[News Alert]: North Korea is deploying missiles in range of the USS George Washington aircraft carrier

What they should really be watching out for is NK moving it's military into thier nuclear bunkers en-mass.

That means they are about to EMP the US - which has to be thier ultimate strategy for re-uniting the peninsula.

If I knew someone in S. Korea that could leave, I would leave for awhile, never know what S. Korea might do either.

But is it possible for both of the Koreas just to play the computer game or do they want Death?

My father (GS-13, if you know what that is) and mother are enroute to South Korea right now to visit my sister, and to reaffirm arrangements at the State Department (Embassy) and Osan Air Force Base (Military) to ensure their safe extraction should the evacuation order be given...

Besides the exercises with S. Korea, the Carrier Group is there as a first alert tracking system also. That means that AEGIS cruisers along with its smaller Arleigh Burke class ships can track hundreds of missiles at the same time, and I am sure the Carrier Task Force can also know what China is doing if needed.

Plus, there is Diego Garcia base in the Indian Ocean probably with B-52 planes and whatever, and they carry a massive load of ordinance and although it may take a few hours to get to whereever they want the action, it would make a sure dent in any of their plans for anything regarding whether they really want more or just are plain crazy. Add to that the other Carrier Task Force by Japan, and they better start praying I would suppose.

And of course the Carrier Task Force can probably shoot down a great deal of missiles flying anywhere if in the right place to reach them in time.

So I think that means that S. Korea has to make a determination on what it is doing, and the rest of the region stay out of it, and who knows how Russia is viewing this crazy man of N. Korea, which means they think he probably is an idiot in all forms.

i agree with most of what you are saying, but you are losing one very important point. if hostilities break out then war/death happens very quickly, response from diego garcia and guam will/would happen, however it will be too late for those who are on the border...and yes, our carrier task force is there as a "trip-wire" however, again, they too can only defend themselves against a given number of simultaneous attacks, and we know-the-enemy-knows what that limit is...

so to sum up, internationally, we will overcome, however, individually at the national level, and more specific at the border, i fear for the innocent civilians who are in terrible harms way...

ya, Airborne I agree with all of that, but S. Korea has to come up with what to do to protect its citizens. Why the Capital is so far North yet to this day, I don't agree with either - Seoul (if that is spelled correctly), but I guess that is up to them.

But on the computer game, it is a single-threaded (single-core) computer game, so a group of volunteers want to upgrade it for the new processors. Not that the computer game is relavant, because it works for small scenarios the best (still in dosbox for my Harpoon II) but making a scenario of half of the world for a supposed WWIII would slow even a modern computer down to a crawl. Although it has time compression or real-time play, it is just getting outdated, although it runs quickly in my version even in dosbox 0.72 version with no problem at all.

But, ya, S. Korea has to come up with saving their civilians, although I doubt even if the USA would be ready for anything as much as S.Korea or anyone else for that matter.

But the N. Korean Dictator wants attention and other things but he is just getting to the point (after reading about some of what he as done) and China probably will be used to put him down.

I think that is dangerous, but then it also seems silly to have the capital of S. Korea where it is on the map also at least to me.

Otherwise, I about never keep track of anything like that, so all I can do is read the forum on what is going, so Thanks for the information (because I don't have News on all day either.) I suppose someone will handle all of that, and I really have nothing to say about what decisions they will make about anything.

You have to ask your selves questions when thinking about NK/SK and the good USA.

It would seem that all NK wants is to be taken seriously and wants it's ports open. They are willing to push things, but there comes a time when you might push to hard.

What would a full scale war buy NK, and especially the fat little dictator family? Not much in my opinion.

The U.S. and SK would bomb the shit out of NK if NK sunk a carrier. If NK used nukes, they would become a parking lot shortly there after.

Those are not good options. In my opinion, this will die down shortly, but probably flare up in again in a year or 2. NK knows it can never ultimately win, so the fat little dictator family will cling to power for as long as they can.
