What are my options? You're welcome. I just don't want anyone to get into the mess I am in. (Parent Loan Debt) Also ... Don't ever ignore your student loan debt, after 270 days it goes to organized crime (collection), where they will add around a 38% collection fee to the balance and they WILL garnish you, in addition to taking any and all Federal Tax Refunds. Oh and the collection fee is deducted from your balance before any education loan debt is ever paid, on all payments, should this happen. A friend of mine, has paid off his $1300 dollar student loan debt three times in the last decade, in the amount of over $5000 and still owes more than the original balance. Student and Parent Loan Debt Collection is a billion dollar industry, thanks to legislation in the last couple of decades, especially this last one. [link to www.usnews.com] Again, good luck. |
