Anonymous Coward User ID: 1172157 United States 11/29/2010 11:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It is likely. List me the specs of your PC and the requirements of your soundcard. The on-board device is optimized to perform the best with your motherboard, however, it's not the best sound. The soundcard should give you better audio, but it's not optimized for your motherboard, so it may eat more resources. Finally, soundcards shouldn't eat much resource anyhow. -AKL |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 428255 Bulgaria 11/30/2010 12:03 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | what about video card vs. onboard video device. Which one would speed up your computer? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 717575I recently removed the video card (I hate additional noise) and went with the internal one - no difference if you don`t play games and don`t watch 20-15 GB movies. Everything works as before. As for the sound card, modern motherboards rarely have sound issues - If you don`t have hi tech equipment and at least 320 kb/s quality mp3, you won`t notice any difference. |

I remember when this crap required screwing around with little ittty bitty jumpers. Remember when motherboards came with Jumper Settings ? not this plug and pray crap they do today... |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 428255 Bulgaria 11/30/2010 12:13 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Amatuers, shut the fuck up. Shit won't free up anything cept some little bitty memory. Won't make shit "faster" since the amount oof memory yer talking about is the equivalent to a drop in the bucket. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1179074Yea the memocy stuff is bullshit. However, the PC may start booting faster with the internal video/sound due to the better compatibility. |

Pro.. btw you hit post twice... and for the record, having two sound cards that probably share allot of IRQs and system resources are ABSOLUTELY going to slow the system down. Espescually in a shitty operating system like windows that is designed to run with one. there are solutions to do it for audio recording needs and such, how ever as a personal computer there is no point at all in having two sound cards, it will hog up resources, hdd space, interupt requests, ( thats IRQ btw ), virtual memory, drivers, create false and dead ultimately useless registry entries, piss off the volume control pannel.... need i go on ?? ok. sit down. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1179074lol... cranky... Perhaps you are correct, but any contention in the bus is just one more interrupt to manage. So it is not incorrect to say it will improve performance. The question is whether it is noticable. Most likely not much, but who knows anything about his system or his drivers or his OS or his configuration. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1179074As someone familiar with modern systems... I'd have to agree the drag of an extra card slot on the MOBO should be no big deal if it's working properly... that's WHY you have hardware acceleration after all... Booting of the drivers should be no biggie either if working properly... You should keep the card unless you need the card slot or you are having power supply issues... with the idea that it will give you better sound performance and MAY actually be faster since you don't know if the MOBO sound is partially software and shares the memory with the CPU, etc... So go with whatever device is a better sound producer... Last Edited by Least Servant on 11/30/2010 12:20 AM :romaflag: Not enough to fight, too many to die. |

Well, at least you're not sucking MS's tiny wang. Intel is gaying up the scene hangin around apple though. |
