STUDENTS are ineligible!...been that way all along! nothing new

No, that is not true.

In my state, students have to work 20 hours a week or more OR have a work-study job. If they have a work-study job they qualify for the full amount of food stamps even if they don't work 20 hours a week.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 430043

So the process is Working for food stamps?, why would a young

guy work for food stamps?. If he can more then likely at that

age work find a job and get real money, probably more money

then whatever amount he would get in food stamps.

Being in school full time qualifies you for food stamps and you don't have to be working. If someone told her otherwise they were yanking their chain.

They said he needs to have both, a job and full time college to be eligible

He is not eligible because technically he is her dependent.
His financial aid status is most likely as a dependent student.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1127821

Well, then she should put him on her case then...in her household. Or tell him to get a work study job where he only works one day a week and then he will get the food stamps.

Can't wait till all these goverment entitlements are gone. 90% of the people on them are are parasites sucking the life out of taxpayers who actually get their ass out of bed and go to work. I'm sure there are some honest folks who will be devestated by this but they have only the lazy asses to blame for overloading the sysytem. Here are the rules for students:

There are special rules that apply to college students who between 8 and 50 years old. A student who is attending college part- or full-time must meet specific rules to be eligible for SNAP/Food Stamps:

If you are 18-49, and meet one of the following:

* Get federal or state work-study monies, or
* Work 20 hours or more per week, or
* Have a child under the age of 12 in the home (further rules apply), or
* Take part in an education or job training program operated by the government, or
* Are disabled and receive a disability based benefit.

Food stamp requirements vary depending on the state, in florida for example, your eligible if you have a income below a certain bracket, if you don't have a job you must do a very small amount of work (usually community service oriented) though, unless you had health problems of course.

At least that's the way it worked last i checked.

I had food stamps when I was in college too, but someone in my family was disabled. Actually in Ohio they have something written in where if you have one family member on disability the spouse doesn't have to work because the disabled needs care. (Seriously, before we had our children I didn't have to work cause my hubby is disabled.) They may have changed it through.

That will never happen, USA would crumble with riots since

the chances of getting a job are not that great these days.

which means many more people are entering for food stamp

support.

Seems like the future could be either die of hunger or

work for the HRA for the food stamps support until you

can get yourself out of it by finding a real job in between

all that.

All lives are not the same, if the American realm was like yours then this food stamp situation would had never existed, some people out there are not as fortunate sadly and that's where the support comes.

Can you imagine how the USA would look if this didn't exist?, it would be ugly, some babies and families out there live another day just because of this kind of support, aside from the people who try to used it even if they don't need it this program is greatly packed with people who can't survive without it.

Actually, he only needs to fulfill one of those requirements.

I suspect this is because a college education is considered a luxury in this country, not something you are simply entitled to have, therefore you shouldn't ask the taxpayers to feed you. If you have a part-time job, that income will be used to determine how much you get in food stamps, so you are shouldering some of the burden yourself in that circumstance.

Or he needs to be 21 and have his own case, that's what I am

came to the conclusion here, if he goes by himself at 21

to the center seeking support they would give it to him I bet

him being below 20 pretty much means he is dependent still

and will not get the support since the mom is getting support

already.

It's been a long time
Now it's time to get your bubble burst
Things are bad enough in this world
Why do you have to make them worse?
Day after day, you just gotta get it

So sick and tired of your bitching and complaining
So long you've been oppressed while others lives are
gaining
Want reparations, you're needy and deserving
Can't understand why some are served while you're
doing the serving
Anything but responsibility

Where's my slice?
I want more than equal rights
I want everything for free!

You waste your time concerned with what others are
earning
You want a revolution to start the tables turning
A demonstration to make a better nation
We'll spend the day protesting all the problems that
we're facing
Anything but face reality
Where's my slice...

Your brilliant theory
how the world owes you a living
You'll take away from others
the things they should be giving
They own the pie and you want your share
Whoever told you life was fair?
You were dealt your hand - now play it

Where's my slice...

Does he have a white sounding name?

100 percent American Citizen
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1174747

I asked this because I actually know co-workers who both applied for food stamps, both have 2 kids and same job/salary.

The white was turned down and the mexican got the stamps.

I also know a woman who was white and couldn't get them, her friend applied, she got them. Her friend was white, but her last name was "Gonzales".

Yeah that makes sense, basically we go back to the main point of the thread, if you're a student you need to have a job in order for them to calculate what you would receive in food stamp support.

I think they only give food stamp support with out any of these restrictions to homeless people.

My mother was talking to a neighbor who went to see if
why she gets some food stamps but her son doesn't, he lives
with her and is 20 and goes to college( scholarship ) but is
not eligible.

Supposedly now if you're a son or relative of a person in
food stamp program then other things apply,
unless you have a job( part time/full, it must be 20 hours
atleast) you do not get food stamps support.

Does that make any sense?, why would you need food stamps
support if you got a job?, isn't food stamps for people who
do not have a job and need food to live?.
