I have not been to South America to be in an Aya ritual there, but I have prepared Aya here at home and have made ritual of it.

That must be what I'm remembering. Did you find it significantly more mystical than other preparations?

I have never spoke about it in detail here, I have posted other threads on ayahuasca which I will link here for you. But, I did not find Aya to be more mystical than other preparations (have only had DMT orally), or other substances. It was different than anything else, but more mystical. It is hard to describe. For me, mushrooms feel like a teacher primarily, also a healer, but mostly a vast resource of knowledge. DMT for me felt very healing, very relaxing and soothing, but also very deep. There is a depth to it that is unique from other substances. Mushrooms too, but are different to me in that they are more of a singular entity that provides you with information and insight, but DMT is more of a gateway.

Re: DMT: Spirit Molecule NEW MOVIE FINALLY RELEASED
I journeyed on Aya in the Amazon in 98. One thing I can say for certain is that having the jungle and it's inhabitants included in the ceremony is hard to put a value on. For example, the insects in the rain forest and the sounds and rythmns they create had a very powerful effect on me. Also, having monkeys howl at certain times was another critical factor.
I'm someone who is very audio triggered..."clair-audient"? so the sounds and tones really affected my vision.

The Amazon is a unique classroom.

Thank you. Yes, it's the gateways that fascinate me. I've found LSD to be very connective but much too long for my taste, mescaline always was very chaotic (also goofy & sinister), also lasts very long with me for some reason. Never broke through with mushrooms, seem to have some strange immunity.

Everything else (which is substantial) was pretty much out of body... I don't generally react the psychoactives the way most others do. One of my most intense & brutally difficult experiences was on a VERY low dose of LSD. That was my last time. I took a half tab and lost my friggin mind. I visited my own private hell on that one. It was by no means anywhere near my most visual, just a complete mind fuck.
IDK, these things are so unpredictable and we all react so differently. I haven't touched a psychedelic in years. Part of me really wants to revisit but my inner voice says...*NOPE*.... kinda pisses me off *sob*

LSD to me is very left brained, very mathematical and scientific. I enjoy it, but it seems too sterile for me. On the other hand, I have had profound experiences on it as well, but it has been a while since I have had any, like I said before in a previous post, I prefer to stick with naturally occurring substances that have a long history of relationship with humans. I know where you're coming from on Mescaline, it is an amphetamine which probably gives it a chaotic feeling (I had the same as well), but it is a very particular substance on its own. My experience with it is limited though, but I did enjoy it.

That is nice to say, I would like to have another dedicated partner for shamanic journeying or other types of trance work. I have friends who are into psychadelics but are not nearly as dedicated as I. Most just want to trip and have a good time, which is cool, but I like to go places, do things, interact with entities. My friends say I am boring when I trip because I just lay on the couch and close my eyes. On the other end, they have no idea where I've been... ;)

Oh hell yeah! I agree! I don't know if I could handle anything 'additional' when I travel. I'm so overcome by nature as it is. Some of my most amazing events were entirely sober visiting the Mayan ruins. Many times, travelling to ancient places or spiritual sites will trigger spontaneous mystical experiences. If I had more strength I might be more daring in that regard. I have alot going on that's hard to process.

I've had some transformative sober experiences at ruins sites too.
I watched a woman climb out of a kiva at Bandolier State Park in New Mexico, and just break down crying due to the memories it brought up for her. Made me frightened to go in there ;).

The medicines make me braver for some reason.

Oh yes!
It's very sorrowful to me actually. Friends that I could potentially do such things with are very stunted and have little true insight (or interest) about the nature of the journey. It's a rough thing. I was always the educated explorer but because of the nature of such things, alot of my buddies were/are just simply reckless partiers.

I am somewhat isolated for a variety of reasons... as you know, it's very hard to convey the majority of amazing/life changing things we experience, whatever the source, sets us apart in some very personal way....

so glad you're opening up here SAM hf... I've been eager to discuss such topics for quite some time! I am happy to hear it brings you bravery, for me it's quite the opposite. I always seem to drastically digress under such influences, which is so disturbing to me because I truly & deeply appreciate the additional value brought into play by (as you eloquently put it)... 'medicines'...
I learned to keep my distance quite young but then again, I was given more access than was probably productive at that stage in my life. I wish I had reserved more of my endeavors for adulthood. Life can be overtly complex that way.... *sigh*

As I keep reverting to, my sensitivity is bothersome and a definite issue. I feel as if I have something going on that makes these compounds somehow potentially negative channels to me... and it's entirely baffling. I have grand assurances/knowledge and comforts co-existing (albeit paradoxally) with tremendous trepidation and fear. There seems to be something in between for me that I struggle with. Perhaps it's the transition between, I do not know. I just keep hoping someone will stumble upon my ramblings and be like 'YES! ME TOO!'..... lol, too much to hope for.

We can truly learn so very much from eachother hf

I also do not know a single individual that DID NOT have a bad experience with it.

I have had good experiences with the wheel, under salvia and other substances as well (LSD, Mushrooms). It is not something to be fucked with, nor are salvia or mushrooms or other spirit entities. They must be treated with utmost respect. Any attitude less than serious and reverent will definitely take you to a bad place.
