Long story short, they are folding some symptomology that used to be thought of as separate disorders with comorbid features into more broadly defined personal disorders while disgarding some now redunant catagories... this is to better account for the recent advancements in the affective circumplex model, to better bring the scientific discourse on pathology in line with what has been discovered in experimental research in behavior and neurobiology. In other words... meh, they have no idea what's going on with people in the modern science of "abnormal" or pathological psychology. You are better off reading a 1900's text on magick than reading a modern psychology book if you are a reasonably sophisticated person. A psychopath will floor it and shout Weeeeee! and run over the animal. A Narcissist, not wanting to be bothered by slowing down also runs over the animal and does not care. |

Each country has its own variant. I use the Australian modified (AM) version. The only country that had narcissistic personality disorders in the ICD 10 is the USA. We always get a good laugh out of that. Its looks like they are catching up with the rest of the world. Personality I don't think it is a psychiatric disorder, its just that some people are uncaring arrogant arseholes. perfectly sane, just pricks. The DSM IV is run by big pharma, and some say they only produce a new diagnosis after they have created a medication to deal with it. Supposedly all the DSM panel have extensive research grants from big pharma. Mental health services are just a big drug pushing service, very few of their therapies produce lasting results. |
