There are a lot of Asperger's/Autistic children that are very high functioning and are able to handle the academics in the regular ed classroom. Unfortunately, they often have a very short temper and are very impulsive. It's not uncommon for those children to crack and hurt another student or a teacher. What is the solution? The law says the student has to be in an environment which is least restrictive, which is the regular ed classroom. But when a student or teacher gets hurt, well, the student is going to get bounced out. If the child is lower-functioning and doesn't really know what he is doing, he should be in a classroom/special school able to handle this type of child and help him to progress.
