Here is my childhood ghost/demon story, share yours.
I was browsing GLP and while doing so was remembering an event that happened to me when I was about 3-4 years old. If anyone can shed some light on what exactly this thing was or has stories of their own to share please do so.

My parents obtained from my grandmother a rather useful lamp for my bedroom. It was a lamp where Mickey Mouse formed the lamp base and the light and shade were directly above him. The lamp portion could be turned off and Mickey himself turned on to function as a nightlight. This was placed on top of the dresser which was at the foot of my bed so it was practically right over me.

The first night while trying to sleep I hear a sound that is hard to describe. I guess we'll call it the sound of stretching plastic. I open my eyes to find that Mickey has opened his mouth, revealing a row of teeth. I remember this quite vividly, so much so that I remember making out a plastic edge along the inside of his mouth, similar to the edge around a shampoo bottle or anything else that was two halves fused together.

This shouldn't have been possible since the lamp was a piece of plastic and shouldn't even have a mouth that opens. So I cry and scream for my mom who comes in and after explaining that Mickey made a face at me she told me it was a bad dream and to ignore it.

Night after night this thing would torment me by making various faces, and if I kept my eyes closed in an attempt to ignore it it would make sounds instead. I even remember an instance where I was lying on my side, opened my eyes and the lamp was now on the floor, looking up at me.

My parents insist it's just bad dreams and to ignore it. However, after about two weeks of this my mom got sick of being woken up by my screaming so she humored me by covering the lamp with a pile of clothes so I couldn't see it and to show me it's nothing to worry about.

This didn't deter the lamp, it merely changed tactics. Since I couldn't see it it resorted to making sounds. It's favorite would be to make a low breathing sound, which would get louder and louder and louder until I again freaked out and cried for my parents.

One morning I wake up and as I walk past the dresser to leave my room I heard that familiar creaking plastic sound. I turn to look and there was a gap in the clothing. The lamp had turned its head to look at me through this gap. The eyes were glowing bright red.

This again continues for several weeks. I tell my whole family and everyone I know and EVERYONE tells me to ignore it and that it's my imagination. So with no one believing me and no one supporting me on this I try to convince myself that yes it really is my imagination.

My aunt is babysitting me one day and she's in my room helping me get dressed. Well the lamp decides to act up and did its usual breathing trick. I kept telling myself "just ignore it it's not real" and the breathing kept getting louder. I was looking at my aunt to see if she reacted since this was the first time it had done something while someone else was in the room.

She didn't react at all. I was convinced yes this must be my imagination then since she can't hear it. The breathing didn't stop and she could see me getting nervous but I kept trying to play it off and said nothing was wrong. After awhile I couldn't take it anymore and ran out of the room. I remember the look on my aunts face and I felt bad. She was baffled and thought she had done something wrong or hurt me in some way.

I FINALLY convinced my mom to just get rid of the damn lamp and the next night it was gone. I didn't care what she did or question this. I was a little kid and just glad it was gone. It may have been my imagination but at least it was gone right?

Fast forward till I'm in my late teens. I had left this lamp behind me as a memory since it was just my imagination right? I was thinking about it one day though and out of curiosity I asked my mom what she had done with it. She had put it in the attic and then gave it to my sister many years later when she was born and a few years old.

I then go to my sister and asked her if she remembered the lamp and she said she did. I asked her if it did anything weird and she said "Yeah I hated it it would breath".

Well all those scars were reopened and now I'm back to wondering what the hell kind of entity was that. For those that are wondering the lamp is gone. My sister complained just as I did so the lamp was given to my cousins. They complained of breathing as well and the lamp was then sold to a stranger at a yard sale.

So that's my story. Does anyone else have a good one to share?

That's freaky. I'm afraid I can't help you. I thought I saw a demon in our fireplace one time but it was probably just my imagination. It was so so long ago and I grow less sure as more time passes.

Too bad you couldn't have slipped the lamp a Mickey. LOL.

Yeah, that's bad. Sorry. I believe your story completely.

I always hated that stretching plastic sound because then I knew it had moved and when I open my eyes it would be in some new menacing posture. I never saw any actual movement, I would only hear it.

I never had anything like that. When I was around 5 or 6 years old I would have a recurring dream of little green men (they were like 6 inches tall) coming into my room out of the walls and cutting up my blankets with little knives trying to get to me (they never actually made it through because I would always wake up in a panic.) They had a red diamond thing in their foreheads. Years later I was telling my aunt about it and she had the exact same dreams when she was a kid, it freaked me out a bit to hear that.

I used too curl up around the heat register with a blanket raped over me when I was little The house we were living in was very spooky non of us got a good feeling about it.
One night my cat came up right in front of me as i was facing the wall and started making the oddest sound I have ever herd from a cat he only did it that night and never after or before for his whole 15 year life. His eyes got massive like he was looking at something behind me frightened and then I herd it A voice as if it came from my cat itself saying "RUN" so i did right too my moms room threw my sisters jolly jumper and under her covers the cat then came into the room sat on my chest and stared at me making the odd sound again. I fell asleep from sheer exhaustion trying too keep my eyes open.

it was an old house with cowboys and Indians wallpaper in my brothers and my room with wood paneling dim lights threw out the house it was in a small town called maple bay
Though we never saw any ghosts we did have creepy feeling of some one watching over your shoulder and strange sounds threw out the house I was around 12

Well, now, if it weren't for your sister and cousins, I'd have called it a recurring nightmare--dreams at that age can be extraordinarily vivid and coherent, and a child's imaginations can carry night terrors into their waking world. The other sufferers nix that idea, though. I find the story itself entirely credible. I've no idea what kind of entity could have been associated with the lamp, but it was clearly malevolent. Since it was so obviously a child's lamp, it may have been targeted specifically at children, who appear more sensitive to the paranormal anyway; this might explain why your mother and aunt were unaffected. If it was trying to feed on fear, though, I think you must have been a disappointment to it, standing up against it as you did for so long.

my story is:

Once during my childhood, I got to the age where I realised there is absolutely no evidence to support demons, ghosts or any other paranormal bullshit.

Always wished for my own ghost/paranormal experience, but the only one I suspect I can't trust, as I was operating at close to fifty hours without sleep--and I suspect I'm about as psychic as the proverbial lump of stone.
Sigh.

At age 7 I bought a porcelain doll at a pioneer village. The doll started out having pink lips when I bought her. Each year her lips kept changing to a different shade of red. When I turned 14 her lips were a bright crimson shade . The doll looked like a little prostitute in a flower pioneer dress.

I put her inside a grocery bag and tossed her inside a Salvation Army box. Buh Bye to the hooker pioneer doll.

When I was young my sister saw a hooded man/lion keeping watch over me at a slept. Not just once. But often.

Of course my parents didn't believe her.

To this day, decades later - she still looks freaked when she tells me about it.
Personal responsibility - try it sometime. Quit blaming others for your bad choices. Consequences happen.

Freaky story, OP! Do you watch that show "The Hauntings"? I can relate to what you're going through because I, too, was tormented as a child.

I get so angry now when I hear stories like this and what they do to little children. They are spiritual vampires preying on the innocent, and they deserve the blackest of darkness and misery to be returned upon their heads multiplied for all of the pain and suffering that they have caused to those innocents. And so shall it be.

i had a recurring dream\nightmare when i was about 5 or 6 yrs old. the only thing i remember from it is falling from a black void in third person exact detail, back into my body, after which i would immediately wake up. imagine a shift in perspective from 3rd person to first person, from black void, to bedroom, to self.

I had a remote for a stereo that believe it or not was haunted. It made clicking sounds at random times throughout the day... something like the sound of talons clicking on the plastic... I got rid of the remote and haven't been bothered since.

My girl's monster was a pink long-armed stuffed thing my neighbor gave her. The neighbor was my Fiancee's ex-girlfriend !
It opened its mouth and laughed at her madly one night. She was awake at the time.I tossed it immediately. She's grown now but will still swear to it.

Do me a favor ( and others). If you have a haunted object, don't drop it in some thrift store for some unsuspecting fool to pick it up. Destroy it. Thanks.
