Gulf oil spill..I was in Plaquemines parish today
had to go down to Port Sulphur for work...talked with some women whose husbands are regular shrimp fishermen down in boothville. They said that they are only allowed to collect shrimp in certain locations, but the oil is steadily rising to the surface in most places where they are not allowed to fish. They said this was from the oil which was pushed down by the dispersant and it keeps rising to the surface. The only solution they have is to push it down with more dispersant.

The women I talked to said they live close to the water, but so far, they haven't experienced any adverse health effects. One woman said that none of her family have been experiecing weird rashes or respiratory problems and she felt the health claims of some of the more outspoken members of the community may have been exagerated.

I'm not refuting the claims of rashes or respiratory problems by other people who live in the area. I am just reporting what I heard today from people who have been directly affected by the spill. Apparently, the oil that was pushed down by the dispersant is still rising to the surface and causing problems.

Maybe you should get some water samples. Look online for independent researchers who might know the best places to get your water tested.
