Just because we have photos of the earth from the moon, does not mean it is round. It actually is lopped like an asteroid.

The water gives it the round appearance.

If it weren't for the Great Ice Wall that surrounds the Earth, and the tens of thousands of armed military guards who guard it, yes, we could look over the edge.

I once read an interview with an Amish elder from Pennsylvania who said, for him, the earth was flat.

It wasn't a matter of science or needing proof. His world was simple and direct, contained in the 100 acres of his farm and he knew what he needed to know to make a life and everything else was superfluous.

If it truly were round, people on the sides and bottom would fall off.

That's the best argument you can give for the earth being flat? You must not have read the title of this thread.

Not only that but the shit would also fly off the earth cause they also claim the earth is "spinning" or something.

I live in the present. At this moment I am on level ground.

I've tested this theory to great lengths. not to pat myself on the back or anything, but I've come up with a fool-proof demonstration of the Earth being flat. and you can try this in your own kitchen or living room.

basically, you need two things:
1) a floor to drop something onto
2) a piece of paper to drop

it's really quite amazing and it works, every time.

what I do is stand with a shoulder-width stance over a linoleum or similar floor, and I drop the sheet of paper.

now, here's the important part. this is the part that matters. the pudding-covered proof.

THE PAPER WILL BE LAYING FLAT!

it totally lays flat on the floor. no curving under the outer edges of the paper as the Earth underneath curves. just a nice, <b>FLAT</b> sheet of paper.

voila. it's absolute proof that the Earth is flat. it's so easy.

Well, I've never ONCE noticed it wearing a bra...

If the earth was round, then a plane flying a level course would fly off into space as the ground beneath it began to 'fall away'

Supposing it was an infinate plane:

As you stand on earth and look down, you see a flat section of the plane, but as you look further out you come to the horizon, the point where the distance of that section of the plane is so far away that you no longer have a perpendicular perspective, but rather by comparison, your height Above the plane is now so miniscule as a percentage of the distance of the plane that you might as well be parallel to it.

Therefore when you look to the distance, you see a horizon. Looking down is like seeing the flat part of a knife, looking in the distance is like seeing the edge of a knife. Thats why we see a horizon on an infinate plane.

example:

suppose you are ther dot below, and the plane is below you

you see the flat part.

now look in the distance...you see the edge and the flat dissapears.

Thats what causes the horizon.

Now heres the magical part:

If the plane is infinate, the horizon should always be there no matter what.

So if you begin to go higher and higher, you will see a wider streatch of the flat plane, but the horizen will ALWAYS be there, in all different directions. And it will ALWAYS appear parallel to you.

If you get far enough away from the plane, it will look like a circle, because the edges are the horizon which are parallel to you can not break the infinate horizon and the flat part that is directly belowe you simply gets further away the higher you go. The circle will just appear to get smaller.

Thats why stars . Appear smaller than the moon and why we always see the same part of the moon and never the "Dark Side".

From this distance we merely see the flat section of the moon that we are directly above, and the edges are merely the ever extending infinate horizon that is parallel to us.
From this distance we merely see that as ROUND.

It is possible to travel round the world and get back where you started. and it is possible for me to travel round town and get back where I started. but not to travel "across" the earth is a different story.
round does not equal a global sphere. my dining room table top is round and FLAT!!

Or you sky dive. You will literally see that the earth is round.
