Nothing hit the magnetosphere, this was INSIDE it, at geostationary orbit, the Density spike. These are done by Star Fleet when the planet needs protons for whatever reasons when the sun as been very quiet. Why NICT, (real time) was down for hours, I do not know, but there was NOTHING abnormal on ACE at all.
