He also treated his slaves as family, though sometimes too much as family :) Upon his death all his slaves were granted freedom. You must consider the culture and time frame. He was a great man and if we fail to measure up to the wisdom of the founding fathers we will surely no longer be a nation of free men. Say what you will, Thomas jefferson was a great and wise man. You don't like the founding fathers and the constitution? Get the fuck out of MY country while you can. I'm going to reboot it with a little help from whats coming. New York: Penguin, 1975. 188 Anyone who will argue that a race is inferior to another, based on the observation of that race's people in enslavement, stripped of their natural language, is ignorant at best. I'm not trying to ruin the TJ lovefest, I'm just pointing out the fact that we as Americans tend to romanticize historical figures as long as any bad they've done wasn't to us or ours. Fortunately for you in regards to TJ, that's true. Romanticize away! “Intelligence is like a river: the deeper it is, the less noise it makes.” |

It would of been horrible had he just released them without an actual place to work and get food/shelter. In those times, those slaves probably had it pretty good. It's not like they were going to go and get an education, start a business and invest in properties and such... It's not like he whipped and beat his "slaves". |

I also understand that your intent was to show that TJ was notably intelligent, and had a lot to say about government that we in the present would be wise to heed. So why is this person so great? Seriously why? So you think you know him? You think smart means good and noble! I guess sheep will never learn. Was the guy religious or in the occult? Ah the bill of rights right i'm sure it's not some kind of paper intended to control the masses sure. But wait there is more ah the decleration of "independance" made the same date that the illuminati was put in place by adam weishaupt. 1776 Remeber this date. What did i spoil the fun again? That's just me saying all the annoying things no one wan't to hear anyway. As the world surrenders to tyranny will you do the same thing? Will you be able to stand your ground without faith? Think about it! |
