Johnny Logan Spencer Goes Down
Alright, did I go to sleep & wake up in a parallel universe-where "freedom of speech," is outlawed! I know some of you may think this old news but nevertheless, it's important news!

When did voicing ones creative perspective on a given topic (a topic directed at one of celebrity status-because such people represent and are basically, by virtue of their capacity, open targets) become not only wrong but illegal (where conformity is propped up with punishment-jail time.)

I mean if this guy had written a poem directed at Brad Pitt-a celebrity from the entertainment field or say one of the Manning brothers, Eli or Peyton, from the sports world, would that have been allowed?

Is it because he focused on the President-a political celebrity, that he ended up in the slammer? If so, then, are we to conclude, that one type of celebrity is okay to opine (about) whereas another is off limits-no opinions or else!

Basically, valuing & devaluing life based on occupation/status/class! This being true-something is afoul-something stinks to high-heaven!

Maybe the public at large, needs to protest Johnny Logan Spencer's injustice! Jailing a person because of a poem, regardless of topic, is just plain WRONG-illegal in and of itself.

911 did inflict a'lot of damage to the American Way of Life, although it wasn't so much what the terrorist did with their airplanes that fateful day, as it was with what American Law Makers did with that fear and their ink-they robbed us of our inalienable rights-specifically, in this case, our right of speech!

These wolves in sheep clothing-our so called reps, did far more damage to the American Way of Life than those airplanes! And, poor Johnny Logan Spencer is just the first of many more citizens to come, who will be punished for their "expressed" opinions their works of art, their speech!

Flip it!

Pink, during Former President George W. Bush's Presidency recorded a song pretty much attacking him in regards to his positions on certain issues.

Pink not only assails Bush is to blame for the things she throws at him in the song but she also takes a cheap shot at him (personally) with a reference to his problem with "whiskey and cocaine!"

Such blatant accusations are very damning to a man in Bush's capacity-leader of the most powerful country in the world-a hawkish President at war with terrorist around the globe and at odds with the rest of the world (bloodshot eyes, strung out on coke-his finger twitching on the big red button-nukes set & ready to launch.......whiskey on his breath....you get the picture.)

Yet, nothing of legality was ever leveled against Pink-why? Was it because, she herself is a celebrity? Is it okay for celebrities to attack each other (openly) but against the "unwritten" rules for "ordinary" Americans/citizens to protest or provide their poem-ed opinions, against the same celebrities?

Pink's approach to protesting President Bush was not as "hardcore" as Johnny Logan Spencer's, "The Sniper," directed at President Obama but it was still a creative-lyrical counter/opposition.

Also, least we forget, Bill Maher's statement concerning Vice President Cheney's failed assassination attempt; (in a nutshell) the host (Maher) said, "the world would be a safer place if the assassination attempt succeeded."

Maher & panel of guests;

Ridley: It’s one thing to say you hate Dick Cheney, which applies to his politics. It’s another thing to say, “I’m sorry he didn’t die in an explosion." And I think, you know…

Maher: But you should be able to say it. And by the way...

Frank: Excuse me, Bill, but can I ask you a question? Do you decide what the topics are for this show?

Maher: Yeah, I decide the topics, they don’t go there.

Frank: But you exercise control over the show the way that she does over her blog.

Maher: But I have zero doubt that if Dick Cheney was not in power, people wouldn’t be dying needlessly tomorrow.

Scarborough: If someone on this panel said that they wished that Dick Cheney had been blown up, and you didn’t say…

Frank: I think he did.

Scarborough: Okay. Did you say…

Maher: No, no. I quoted that.

Frank: You don’t believe that?

Maher: I’m just saying if he did die, other people, more people would live. That’s a fact.

So, what gives? Does it come down to how words are arranged (that makes it all taboo/illegal?) Or is it how deep the words go to convey their point? All in all-it's still just words! Except now, words, certain words, words arranged a certain way..........are forbidden! And, the consequences are extreme-you go to jail.

Don't get me wrong-I'm not against President Obama. I actually voted for him. And, I'm one of the few who still support him. It's just that I believe this particular incident involving him is way out of line and I'm offended that he didn't do something to stop it from getting out of hand!

A good President is first a good person. As such, they should see the big picture and act accordingly-Presidential, representing what's right and the welfare of it's citizenry. Obama failed on both accounts. And, as long as Johnny Logan Spencer is incarcerated, Obama will continue to fail (especially, when the likes of Pink and Bill Maher committed basically the very same act & are left alone! It begs the question; why? Is it because Johnny Logan Spencer is an ordinary citizen-an obviously simple-minded man? Whatever the claim-the point is he did nothing more than Pink & certainly much less than Bill Maher!)

ps - For the record, I am NOT defending Johnny Logan Spencer-only his right of expression. My personal opinion of his poem is that it is trite-limited in perspective and prejudice to the point as being down-right simple, even silly. Furthermore, I fully support our President. I also believe given enough time and proper support he will go down in history as a great President.

Apparently, these are the statutes he was accused of violating:

Pink's Song/Lyrics

"Dear Mr. President"

(feat. Indigo Girls)

Dear Mr. President,
Come take a walk with me.
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me.
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly.

What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street?
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep?
What do you feel when you look in the mirror?
Are you proud?

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why?

Dear Mr. President,
Were you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?
Are you a lonely boy?
How can you say
No child is left behind?
We're not dumb and we're not blind.
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell.

What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away?
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay?
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine.

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry?
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Can you even look me in the eye?

Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you 'bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothing 'bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
Oh

How do you sleep at night?
How do you walk with your head held high?
Dear Mr. President,
You'd never take a walk with me.
Would you?

If one looks in the back seat of one's car and finds no adult porn star and then uses this negative/null adult porn star detection result in conjunction with the previously determined fact (or just plain old proposition) that adult porn stars, if present, cannot evade such detection, to deduce a new fact that there are indeed no adult porn star present in the back seat of said car. One need only look in the passenger seat to find the adult porn star instead.
