Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1129369About sleep deprivation abolishing the wall between conscious and subconscious, it is true, and I think the way it works is simple, it's the subconscious forcing its way into the conscious, because its time of control is being denied. Look at children. The wall between conscious and subconscious is not so strong. they can go tripping very easily, and letting their thoughts merge in all kind of weird ways. That's something we shouldn't lose as we grow adults. Maybe that's a part of what Jesus meant when he said we should be like children. Children bring lots of memories into this life with them, adults seem to dismiss these as imagination and seem to try to deture them from (making up stuff) where they really arent, and seeing imaginary friends. We as adults seem to put them in our own reality, but it is like when we wake up from sleep we remember some of our dream but and hour later dont remember any of it. How many days must one abstain from food to see visions? 2 to 3 weeks. I'm going to combine fasting, sleep dep, meditation, blindfolded....with my hands tied behind my back!(just kidding on that last part ) When you're planning a major production, you have to set the stage. Fasting produces the same effect with many more benefits. But again, moderation is the principle - too much and you die and that's plain dumb... too much moderation is also an extreme. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1172642 United States 12/11/2010 04:46 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I drove a semi tractor trailor for about six years a while ago. So I am very aware of sleep deprivation and its effects. I think the longest I ever stayed up with no sleep was four days three nights. I had always heard stories about people hallucinating and such after being sleep deprived but I never put much stock in it, until I started losing sleep myself. I have seen animals in the road that werent there, cows in particular. I have even pulled over and stopped before to see if what I saw was really there. I saw a pink cow one night...Honest! I also heard things, voices. One time I was on a long haul, had been up for several days, it was late at night and I had a conversation with my sister. She wasnt there mind you. I was all alone in the cab of that truck but I heard her voice as clear as if she were there with me. The odd thing is that I heard myself talking to her and I heard her answer me but I didnt think it was strange. Then after a little bit I kinda popped back to myself and thought,"What the heck was that?" |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1182749In my view something entirely different happens. The brain slows down, its capacity to take in and order new info deteriorates and its need to review and store past information kicks in while you keep functioning so what should have been dreams start to overlap with reality. You no longer function properly. Sol Dominvs Imperi Romani Imperium Romanum Sacrum In Varietate Concordia |

Quoting: In2thedeth 1189947Hi Bro, apparently sleep dep allows xtra production/activation of the bodies natural LSD receptor/sites I do believe LSD effects the process of synaptic functions of your senses... causing them to blend (Synesthesia) there are no LSD receptors... Now if you mean that your pineal gland produces its natural DMT after a period of sleep deprivation then that would make sense.... it has nothing to do with LSD yes this would make the most sense...something kicks in...like a state of dreaming when you are awake... |

But the things I saw and described after my trip and my hospitalization WAS in the news at the time I was sleep deprived, I confirmed it. It was the exact town, street and event. I know that I had a out of body experience, My soul ended up there, saw what was going on, then I returned. |

Himie User ID: 1177014 United States 12/11/2010 07:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I been a 'Hacker' since I was a kid in the 80s with my Commodore 64s and 128s... use to stay up for days at a time plugging away at stuff... it wasn't always like it is today when any lamer can run a script and get control of a computer... You use to have to work for it... Anyways, over the years, I have developed the ability to stay awake for days at a time. I am not in my mid 30s, and can't really go past 3 days anymore, but 3 days seems to be enough. I can recount multiple occasions where I saw things and had full conversations with things that weren't there in our reality. 1 time not too long ago, I was sitting on my couch playing WarHawk on the ps3 and I saw 2 people, a man and a woman, arguing coming out of my office heading through the family room I was in back towards the bedroom. I had never seen either of these people before. That same night I saw my woman come out of the bedroom while I was still playing, we said hi and what not, and she went in to the office. Turns out she was sleeping at the time, and came out like a half hour / 45 mins later. When I mentioned the conversation we had had, she had no recollection and informed me she was sleeping. I have salso seen a floating figure in a kind of square shape. Reminded me of the king in a deck of cards, only it was a skeleton head. It was floating like 10 feet away, then rushed towards me while I was in bed. Scared the shit out of me... My first thought at the time was of inter-dimensional beings I had read about that thrive on vibrations put out by fear. I could go on, but I think I have made my point. I am not sure if these were ghosts, beings, or some other life form, but their ability to interact with one another and us leads me to believe they posses at least the same heightened intelligence we do... If asked, I would definitely say they are real, whatever they are... |
