Re: My Friend Told Me To AVOID WATCHING HORROR MOVIES For Good!!!!!!!
We were both horror movie junkies. I was more into the Japanese-Asian ghost stuff and she was into slasher & gore (like Hostel, Saw etc).

Recently, she told me she donated her DVD collection to another movie junkie and stop watching those films completely. When I wanted to invite her watching Saw 3D she refused and told me to stop the habit.

She said "These movies will stay in our subconscious. I realize what they did to me and they affect my life. It's damaging my spiritual growth."

She completely stopped the habit. Cold turkey. I am thinking of doing the same.

Anyone ever experience something similar? She stunned me when she said those words. I realized she has changed. And it's time that I also change. For the better.

Your friend is correct OP ... what you will be doing is breaking your conditioning to accept horrors as being alright and part of life ... soon you will come to realise that even the "make believe" images of violence and human beings suffering and dying are SO VERY twisted and should be avoided at all costs. In fact you will wonder how you ever stood it at all ... it indeed damages the etheric body and that was always the intention of these movies.

She's right. I used to watched scary movies a lot until I was attacked in my sleep. It was back in 2005 and the night before, I had watched the exorcism of emily rose. I have seen the excorcist before as well, but I never got the feeling of uneasiness I felt after watching emily rose. Anyway, I was in my dorm room and my roomate had left. I was sleeping but then I felt hands wrapped around my throat, and I heard words I couldn't understand. I was in the stage of sleep where your mind is awake, but your body hasn't caught up yet. My roomate came back from class, and I was trying to scream but I couldn't get the words out. She left , and it (which I'm assuming was a entity or demon) was still choking me, and made my tongue swell. I prayed in my head and suddenly popped up out of bed. I was terrified. Naysayers of course say I was dreaming, but I was fully concious and aware I was under a spirtual attack.

My bestfriends mother also watched that movie, and woke up with scratches on her body. This stuff is real, demons are real, and can be attached to movies, music, books etc. Just pray and stay aware. Sorry if I scared y{. I just wanted you to know your are making the right decision.

Re: My Friend Told Me To AVOID WATCHING HORROR MOVIES For Good!!!!!!!
Pursuant to our discussion.. I would like to go so far as to postulate the possibility that .. horror movies in particular could act as an antagonist to precipitate a condition of "toxic mind" .. and I quote:

Theory
The following hypotheses are proposed: (a) The continual suppression of emotions during fight or flight reactions results in atrophy and the accumulation of toxic metabolites in noradrenergic neurons; (b) detoxification crises are responsible for excitatory symptoms of nervous and mental disease and violent behavior; (c) dopaminergic, serotonergic, peptidergic, and other neurons presumed to specifically release substances as neurotransmitters are toxic noradrenergic neurons that have accumulated these substances; (d) the diverse postsynaptic receptor proteins thought to be specific for false neurotransmitters may instead provide for the encoding of specific memories; (e) when toxins accumulate in regions of the brain that control specific activities, the symptoms observed will be related to those activities, giving rise to supposedly distinct disorders that represent the same detoxification process; (f) recovery from nervous and mental disease is a detoxification process and can be facilitated by therapy and self-help measures that involve the releasing and redirecting of repressed emotions.

Toxicosis
Since the time of Hippocrates it has been understood that symptoms of most diseases, other than degenerative disorders where irreversible organic damage has been sustained, represent the efforts of the body to eliminate toxins (4). Any substance, endogenous or exogenous, that cannot be utilized by the cells is recognized as toxic and eliminated. When elimination is impaired, toxins accumulate. The cells adapt to toxicosis, but when levels of toxin become intolerable the body initiates a detoxification process. Toxicosis is the true disease, and what we call disease is remedial action, a complex of symptoms caused by the vicarious elimination of toxins. Recovery from disease is not because of remedies but in spite of them. The illusion that remedies cure disease is based on the periodicity that characterizes functional disorders. When levels of toxin are reduced to the toleration point, the sickness passes and health returns. But the true disease is not cured. With continued enervation toxins again accumulate and another crisis occurs. Unless the causes of toxicosis are discovered and removed, crises will recur until functional derangements give way to irreversible organic disease. In 1848 Thomas Sydenham, the English Hippocrates, wrote, "[a] disease, however much its cause may be adverse to the human body, is nothing more than an effort of Nature who strains with might and main to restore the health of the patient by the elimination of the morbific matter" (5).

[link to www.redirectingselftherapy.com]

One would certainly agree.. that horror films would constitute "morbific matter"

Intentional, and repeated exposure to horrific images and thoughts would most certainly contribute to moribund conditions of mental illness, and even violence.

What about Zombie movies? You're still going to watch those, right? What if a new Halloween came out?!?! Or a remake of the orginal Hellraiser or something? "FOR GOOD" is a pretty big statement.

She's probably right.

~ She is. You too. I've got a timeline, then done. Have my reasons. Time to envision the answers boldly, not fear the questions regretfully.

I like this, BR! Mind if I use it sometime?

Also, OP, I believe your friend is right. "what is seen cannot be unseen"! Got a smilie for that, want to see it?

 Quoting: ^Watcher^

~ ABSOLUTELY! All that I have is yours, and y'all's!! =) LOVE the kitteh smilie!! LOL!!

~ I do want to add, OP, though; what a poster said a bit above... about real-life traumas (in this case, of war). I'm guessing he didn't witness this in person, but he maybe saw it over the internet. I will tell you something: I have seen those things first hand. Almost two decades ago now. They cannot be unseen. BUT WORSE, when I see horror movies, or nastiness on the internet, IT ACTIVATES THE _SAME_EXACT_RESPONSES_ IN ME THAT THE REAL LIFE WITNESSING OF HORRORS DID. Physically, mentally, emotionally. In other words, I have come to believe that the subconscious sees BOTH as equally real. What I am still uncertain about, even after all of these years, is how some people (including my brothers and sisters in arms) have a 'switch', with which they can choose to become numb or cold or jaded towards such things, if it is their choice at all. And, going a step further, how some people actually ENJOY such things. I think, the step even further, is the origin of evil.

~ But, yes, it is best for your soul, and your spirit, and your smile, to CHOOSE Light or dark. The CHOICE is what is so important. I wish you well in your continued inner clarification!!

It's the same with horror fiction like Steven King books or true crime like Anne Rule. I used to like reading them, but half way through "IT" I started feeling sick and uneasy so I threw it away.

When a person has a good soul it is a trauma to be focusing on evil.

I won't even have books or movies like that lying around the house. I think they attract bad energy.

Interesting theory, we are what we watch, ingest, ect.
If that IS the case I suggest we stop following the doom, news ect because that is also influencing our minds and our global consiousness. Can't have one without the other. I enjoy horror because it reminds me things could always be worse. Silly of me to think such garbage could be true.

Re: My Friend Told Me To AVOID WATCHING HORROR MOVIES For Good!!!!!!!
OP you are right. I had a thread on this subject in February:

"The movie makers shame and their responsibility for changing our world

They have enormous power in their hand, yet many of them are not emotionally healthy, mature artists with high moral standards - to say the least.
Are they aware of it?
They can control huge masses of people with their films.
They make our world a worse place by flooding the screens with violence, killings, torture, horror, humiliation in details with no reason and aim.
Sound engineers use sound effects that mess with our brain frequencies, and -what is little known- they make dialogs soft on purpose, with a loud background sound so we turn on the volume and the amplified bad vibrations make their way straight where are intended.
Films are virtual reality. They create emotions in us, and emotions create energies, vibrations that could heal, purify or destroy our not just our souls but actually create events in the outside world.

Multiply the above effect with a million or more, as how many people go and see that movie...go figure"

think about it. This is the fodder TPTB wants us to chew as our cud, regurgitating it into a holding device to stay anchored to the lower astral with the denizens of a hell world.

I frequently awake to the realization that while sleeping I was hanging out with people who were obviously more evolved than me ... who are lovingly and playfully guiding me to a life in harmony with Source.

So I choose that. Not the hell-world, the heaven-world.

Those who say it has no influence are sleepwalking thru life.

Not that this is a horror movie but the day after seeing Inglorious Basterds i saw a man fall off his bicycle and face plant it into the road,he got knocked out and his face was covered in blood, then the day after i saw a robbery at a convenience store and had a shotgun pulled on me, things like movies make an impact on your mind which in turn influences reality

Slasher and gore flicks don't really do much to me because they're all so fake.

I used to be huge on horror movies the last couple of years but I haven't really watched too many lately. Ive probably seen em all, and the new ones suck so bad I just don't even care anymore.

I do like to watch old school Anime ultra violence. Usually the only things getting killed in these kind of movies are demons.

Re: My Friend Told Me To AVOID WATCHING HORROR MOVIES For Good!!!!!!!
I had not watched horror movies for almost 8 years now and I saw this movie over the weekend called "the killer inside me".
this movie was so perverted with graphic violence, I literally became traumatized.
so my conclusion out of this is that tptb want you traumatized and to see abuse, pain, and violence as "normal".

This also about scaring the inner child and keeping it fear based. We don't have to accept this.

they want a fragmented mind that can accept the reality of evil as common and at the same time to feel that we are powerless to stop it.
There is a ritualistic aspect of this. I do think that they are trying to manipulate the mind, mind control it and feed on the fear it creates.

I know that my reaction today to scary movies has to do with how much I am open to the universe.
When in the past, I was in a sort of zombie state in denial, now I see that I take what I am watching with clarity and awareness and I am present to what the eye is seeing. Even though unreal, the brain doesn't know the difference between daydream, movie, or real, so the reaction and effects are all the same.

No thank you I say now. I prefer to leave my auric field clear of low vibrating colors. I think I can do enough of that on my own from the old traumas already.

I was just going to make the above comment, only way, way, more detailed.

How can you tell people to stop watching horror movies and be a PAID member of this site.

Do you realize how many disgusting, upsetting, blasphemous,
sociopathic, vulgar, depressing, vile threads are displayed on this site every single day????

I try to go through the threads as fast as I can so I don't read anything that offends God.

And there is ALWAYS something that is offensive to God on this site, and offensive to anyone of normal human sensibilities.

I like to read what's happening first hand in the world, but that is almost never the subject matter.

Guess I need to take my own advice.

Bye.
