Let's not lose sight of the fact that the first Christian community in the 1st century was authentically communistic, holding all things in common among them.

And even more importantly, it was ALL CHRISTIAN, so there were no serious value disputes, as to how to allocate resources. To share all property and money with another person (as in marriage) or with a group of persons (as in a commune), is a form of "yoking" -- your destinies are linked. The Bible tells us it's wrong to intentionally become unequally yoked.
State sponsored communism is totally different from early church communism - it is NOT voluntary, the state forces you into it, and it is NOT equally yoked, in fact it's a case of mass, forced unequal yoking. Even in democratic socialism, forced unequal yoking can occur, for example: if you have a socialized medicine plan, covering both Christians and nonbelievers, the taxes of Christians are being used for abortion, euthanasia, etc. This wouldn't happen in an all Christian commune.
And, it did not work very well for early Christians. Read the book of Acts to
see how quickly problems arose.A correction, deny history to your loss, it was ALL ROMAN CATHOLIC. Ignatius of Antioch, a bishop, the third bishop used the term Catholic for the first time.
Wait a second, no one has ever been forced to join the
Church. And disputes...
God knows what He is doing, the Scripture verse that states
if you have problem, a disagreement, take it to the Church.
God named a holy man to be His authority on earth. Prideful
men say no, each person decides for themselves, imagine!!
Peter was the first Pope. And the line hasn't been broken. The Pope does not error on faith and morals,
it's a gift from God. Example...
Pope Paul VI stood God's ground on contraception when all
the world came against Him, Catholics, even the hierarchy too with the world's acceptance of the "pill."
Look at the fruit of Contraception, all the things Pope
Paul said would happen, happened and more, none good. Read his encyclical, Humanae Vitae.
One of the inventors of the Pill denounces it! Science
didn't realize at first the ill effects besides no next
generation.
