Re: **VIEW THE TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE FROM 02:41-03:53 AM EST TUESDAY MORNING**
[link to science.nasa.gov]

"This lunar eclipse falls on the date of the northern winter solstice. How rare is that? Total lunar eclipses in northern winter are fairly common. There have been three of them in the past ten years alone. A lunar eclipse smack-dab on the date of the solstice, however, is unusual. Geoff Chester of the US Naval Observatory inspected a list of eclipses going back 2000 years. "Since Year 1, I can only find one previous instance of an eclipse matching the same calendar date as the solstice, and that is 1638 DEC 21," says Chester. "Fortunately we won't have to wait 372 years for the next one...that will be on 2094 DEC 21."

Will the moon be high or low in the sky?
Eastern sky or western sky?
Viewed from the east coast that is?

Reason I ask is trees.

If it will be low in western sky I wont bother getting
up because I couldn't see it for the trees.

Has anyone gone out and looked at the moon already? Just did in central time zone to check the cloud cover- little bit with fast moving clouds. Weirdest thing though when I looked at it. I saw a glowing blue trim around it and what seemed to resemble the flower of life design within it. Now I did not have my glasses on so it would be normally a little blurry- my eyes aren't too bad. I was quite taken back by what I saw- I am taking it to be a good sign with peaceful and loving energies coming to Earth. Excited to see what it will look like in a few hours.

Hope this hasn't already been posted (I skimmed back to check).

Some useful weather related info for watching the eclipse tonight. Can you BELIEVE that cloud cover!? So few can actually see it! They have a map denoting where it is visible as well.

[link to www.weather.com]

From link, concerning the why of the "red" Moon:
If you're planning to dash out for only one quick look it is December, after all choose this moment: 3:17 am EST (17 minutes past midnight PST). That's when the Moon will be in deepest shadow, displaying the most fantastic shades of coppery red.

Why red?

A quick trip to the Moon provides the answer: Imagine yourself standing on a dusty lunar plain looking up at the sky.

Overhead hangs Earth, nightside down, completely hiding the sun behind it. The eclipse is underway.

You might expect Earth seen in this way to be utterly dark, but it's not. The rim of the planet is on fire! As you scan your eye around Earth's circumference, you're seeing every sunrise and every sunset in the world, all of them, all at once.

This incredible light beams into the heart of Earth's shadow, filling it with a coppery glow and transforming the Moon into a great red orb.....

AH well, at least there's Astronut. Thanks again!

The metal associated with Luna is Silver. Luna is also associated with the Feminine.

A white candle and your best incense, nice silver jewelry like earings, wear black and dress up like your going out.

It's Solstice and Total Lunar eclipse. I hope many of you will be staying up and watching it.

A little prayer or prayers not for yourself.

Smell the Roses too (literally) if you have one or some.

It's a good time for guys too but it's definitely Ladies night.

Best Wishes and Happy Solstice!

I just had a light headedness a few minutes ago. Whew. Now I'm feeling a little antsy, and feel a little rocking thing.

I just looked up and the moon is almost directly above me.
The skies are cloudy, but thin and very fast moving.

NYC suburbs

Sky is quite clear, moon is white and extremely bright. There's a very clear halo around the moon, radius maybe 5 degrees of arc. Never seen such a thing before.

does a thing not exist? can you think of a thing and have neither its shadow cast nor its reflection illuminate upon us? what is this thing. you cannot think it, i assure you. but, indeed, you may live to see it.

Now we are in it, it's officially Solstice, the shortest day of the year.

Big moon thing hasn't started yet, alignment at it's peak should be very cool!

My GF is a little messed up from it too and the energy is well, not so much for guys but I'm digging it and very happy for the Ladies.
