Nicole Kidman to Tom Cruise and Scientology: "I Like Being Catholic"
According to some news reports of late, the main reason for the split between movie actress Nicole Kidman and actor husband Tom Cruise, both members of the controversial Church of Scientology since they met over ten years ago, is that Ms. Kidman does not want her children to be raised as Scientologists.

Aside from seeing the fruit of Scientology and Scientologists up close and personal, the bottom-line source of Kidman´s spiritual "rebellion" against the See of Hubbard in that American equivalent of the Vatican --Hollywood, CA-- may very well be Kidman´s own religious upbringing reasserting itself.

You see, dear friends, Nicole Kidman is a cradle Catholic.

And even more importantly, and no doubt even more so to the chagrin of the Hubbardites, a cradle Catholic who may be rediscovering the depth, richness, and genuine spirituality of the Faith Once Delivered Unto the Saints which she apparently jettisoned in a lapse of youthful indiscretion for the intellectual vacuity and pseudo-spirituality of L. Ron Hubbard´s Con Job Many Times Sold Unto the Glitterati.

In a book published this past year titled I Like Being Catholic: Treasured Traditions, Rituals, and Stories (New York: Doubleday, 2000) Ms. Kidman is qouted (on page 103) as saying:

"I really don´t discuss religion or my beliefs. But when Stanley (Kubrick) died, I had an extraordinary night. I actually went out alone to St. Patrick´s Cathedral and spent an hour and a half in the church. It was candlelit, the wind was whipping around that night, and I left at nine, when they close the doors. I thought as I came onto the street: Well, I suppose once a Catholic, always a Catholic. It was very humbling, I received such solace."  (italics in original text)

Hopefully, since she made this statement, Ms. Kidman has been advised by her spiritual director (normally a priest or nun who acts as one´s adviser/confessor) that there is --and can be-- no compromise between the beliefs and practices of L. Ron Hubbard and the teachings of the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.

(In fact, under the 1983 Code of Canon Law, a Catholic cannot be a participant in Scientology --or in any other religion not in communion with Rome-- without endangering his or her faith and risking or committing self-excommunication for apostasy.)

Apparently, once faced with the awesome responsibility of providing a religious education and upbringing to her two adopted children, Ms. Kidman finally woke up and smelled the incense, and decided to cross the Tiber instead of Hubbard´s much ballyhooed Bridge. (After all, "ex nihilo, nihil fit.")

In which case, God bless her.

Why does it have to be a contest? If people mind their own business let them be whatever religion they choose.

That´s like replacing that darned coke habit with amphetamines and champagne.

Leaving scientology? Is she nuts. What about the futuristic haircuts, the drab colored clothes, the countless ways to waste your money.

Has she gone mad?

I like being Catholic too, but that rule about
risking excomminication if you practice other religions----would that include Pagan?
-since from the way I was taught, Pagans had no religion----(I know otherwise).

Catholics and many other so-called Christians are pagan. Look at their beliefs(hellfire, immortal soul, trinity, idol worship) and holidays. All taken from pagan religions. They only give lip service to Jesus. Catholics to Scientologists. Pot calling kettle black.

They worship the earth that God created. They need to worship God who created the earth.

Until people wake up to truth and throw away all their crutches, they will go from one belief system to another.

Throw away all belief systems, allow your mind to be still, and ask yourself "how would I do this if I were God, loving, fair, intelligent, wise and all forgiving?" Could the simple answer be, "I´ll let them keep doing it over and over and over again, as long as it takes, until they get it right and let go of all their nonsense, relax and discover my energy which has always benn within them but which they kept covered up by their various thoughts and desires."

If some other high profile star like....uhhh Brad Pitt became a druid, and started bullying poor helpless Matt Lauer and Oprah about how cool and enlightening being part of an ancient pagan religion is, I think you would start to see hordes of others become druids.

Back to Kubrick if we may...

the thread header is not so much about nicole, its a reminder to go back and re watch stanley´s entire body of work

an unbroken and relentless line of disclosure

I saw 2001 when it was released in its premiere in dolby up here at McClurg Court Theatre, Chicago

I got all of it till the end and the old man in the room with the wine which eluded me till recently about the soul and the container body

someone needs to link that addy for the animated ´explanation´ simulator for the youngins
here

He went through evolution, our stardseed origins with the visitors and the monolith, the repulsive technologizing of mankind, all of it

brilliant

and Clockwork Orange to show it where it was at in its ´current evolution´ aka Tavistock and MK
and white rabbitry gamesmanship in post WW2 era

and then he went on to make Barry Lyndon, the adaption of Thackery´s great novel which shows you the origins of where the power structure came from, who the players were and what was their wealth objective etc.

Seamless perfection a brilliant career and Eyes wide shut being a flawed but necessary capstone to a life dedicated to exposing dark to light.

Te Amadeus of the film industry

Nicole, you are welcome back from the deadzone.

Tom Arnold brands Cruise ´ignorant´ for Brooke Shields comments

Tom Arnold has branded Tom Cruise "ignorant" for attacking Brooke Shields´ decision to take medication to ease postpartum depression.

In May, Cruise -- who claims to have helped people fight drug addictions through his controversial Scientology religion -- sparked a war of words when he criticized Shields for using the anti-depressant Paxil, following the birth of her daughter Rowan.

And during a Tuesday morning appearance on The View, Arnold attacked Cruise´s stance on the issue.

Arnold, whose childhood hyperactivity was settled with the help of Ritalin, said, "I just think he´s ignorant. I just think he doesn´t know. When people talk about abortion, it´s not my issue, I´m a guy. I don´t even wanna hear about it, I don´t wanna discuss it. Or postpartum depression. How is that our issue?"

"I thought that Brooke Shields is very brave, because celebrities, we wanna look cool, and (admitting) you wanted to kill yourself and maybe your baby is a very vulnerable thing for her to do. That´s like irritable bowel syndrome, or something. It´s not a cool thing."

"I think Tom is little out of touch. I think therapy is good. It´s good for me and my wife. But I think (some) people probably are over-medicated. Vitamins might be good."

Referring to Cruise´s much-mocked antics since embarking on a romance with Katie Holmes, Arnold also said, "I want my wife to get some Tom Cruise vitamins, ´cause boy is he in love! I wanna give her those vitamins so she´s like, ´Tom, Yes! Yes!´"
