Quoting: Anonymous Coward 941746interesting place. The Lake District is so beautiful but really does have something going on there. I was meant to be camping there for 2 nights in the Summer. We found the most amazing campsite that is really 'out' the way. Grass, hills, walkers, fresh air if you get my drift. Well we were pitching and there were millions of flying ants appeared from no where. No one else had this problem. We moved the tent to the next field and on the way my daughter had an accident and ended up breaking 4 toes. Freak accident!!! That night I had weird dreams about earthquakes in the area and we woke up to a loud drilling sound and the whole area was vibrating. Turns out the whole place is being quarried. Mother Earth is PISSED OFF I was so angry for her!! We went home early :( ~Are we there yet?~ |

Bummer of a holiday, better to bail early and listen to your gut. Hope your daughters foot healed well. Broken toes hurt. |

TY - broken toes take a couple of years to heal and she had to give up dancing and PE (all her favourite things) for a few months. She's just started doing things again bless her but she wont be able to go back to competition dancing because of the strain and I said to her she needs to take her feet into old age so better to look after them now. ~Are we there yet?~ |
| RUDDD User ID: 1189380 12/21/2010 06:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have to say myself around 11am felt significantly "lightheaded", as if I was swaying, but put it down to my circulatory system as im sitting on the office chair which is fairly cushiony. However looking at the reports on this forum [link to www.ukweatherworld.co.uk] Interestingly the South Coast/London members in particular hearing a "boom", and more closer people in Yorkshire & Crosby reporting physical events as myself. I dont think this 3.6 was a singular event. I think this could be the result of P-Waves from that Japan quake concentratingly hitting the UK some hours after it occured. |

I have noticed over the years that we seem to be linked to Japan and if they have an earthquake we get a minor. I dont understand why though. ~Are we there yet?~ |

| RUDDD User ID: 1189380 12/21/2010 07:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Could be that were both orientated on the same Northern Hemisphere on opposite sides, allowing the waves to pass-through easier without having to rebound through the Core. Not to mention the UK geologically is influenced by outside forces on its faultlines (exertion/intertion from continental shift or passing P-Waves) rather than from the direct fault as seen in places like California or Indonesia. Thus our faultines rely on instable bedrock or postglacial shift to indirectly cause shifts in motion, releasing seismic waves (Earthquakes.) |
