You may ask how they can do this without congressional consent and so forth. The answer, unfortunately, is too simple and devastating to believe: you were never free. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1158981But from what I can see, the only thing they're regulating is the isp;s ability to regulate...in other words, keeping the internet available without allowing isps to discriminate. |
nzer man User ID: 1199360 United States 12/21/2010 07:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is confusing. One one hand it seems like it will be good to keep the isp from making and charging for tiers of service, on the other hand everyone is bitching about it and saying its the end of free internet. I can't make that leap. Someone help me. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1192565================ essence: your screwed..there will be no unchecked chatter between the masses... approved information only ...that would be harmless info not get back in fkn line |
IT Security Consultant User ID: 1165156 United States 12/21/2010 07:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The only thing the new FCC regulations did was prevent ISP's from censoring content. ISP's are still able to create tiered systems, causing sites that are considered "less important," such as alternative entertainment sites, to be slower than sites that are "more important," like commerce sites. They just can't block legal content. Guess who decides what is illegal content on the internet? The FCC. Essentially, the government is claiming ownership of the Internet. The way the FCC "controls" every radio station, they also can claim they control every server - that they have jurisdiction on the "open" internet. |
