Re: Storm finally moves out of Southern California, Cold New Years ahead
To Kevin's debunkers, not all parts of SoCal get hit the same. It is a large area and some places get hit worse than others. Where I live in SoCal, we had strong wind and very heavy rain last night and into the morning hours, for about 7 hours. Then moderate to heavy rain for most of the day today. Since Friday, my area has received over 20 inches of rain. Late this afternoon, the cold front moved into my area and we received about 2 inches of snow. When the cold front moved in we had thunder and lightning to go with it. It didn't snow? Then what is that white, cold stuff that's all over the ground? Oh, and I did hear a news report about a water spout off of Dana Point, I believe it was. So, from my perspective, Kevin had it right on, again. Keep up the good work Kevin!

what elevation are you at??? Well the Basin got very little rain today for the most part compared to the last six days. I don't know where you live in "SOCAL" but today was not "crazy" like predicted in previous threads.

2007 it rained for like two solid months in the beginning of the year. It might have been 2006.

LOL ... GLP hates their weather dude huh?

Chill .. he clearly said his name is Kevin, not Noah.

While I must admit, LA washing into the Pacific would have been even better than New Orleans getting swamped ... there is always tomorrow!

Dear LA folks who are pissed ... I'm only saying this because LA sucks. It's ok .. Detroit is worse ... Pakistan somewhere in between. That said, they both have signs warning tourists to stay away.

What happened in California is scary if you're in the NE watching from afar Honestly I'm expecting 6 foot snowstorms and -40F temps in january. Certainly deeper cold than what we've seen in decades here. I hope the snow does blow out to sea but I'm not holding my breath. 50/50

Kevin does a pretty good job. He doesn't have to come here and give help to people that ask for weather updates, but he does. Even with all the nasty comments, some of you here post.

I think some of you are just disappointed, that their is no weather doom. That California is not going to wash off into the Pacific. <sigh>

Yeah, y'all should leave poor Kev alone. He's been through most of the shit we all have been through and was banned for a LONG time and yet he still comes back to take our abuse- now that's true public service. You can tell he's a friendly people person.

All weathermen get it wrong- that's their job.

Thank you for that. Micro-climates are a huge part of the weather here ... different even 5 miles down the road than another. Some had severe storms, others did not.

It depended on where you were.

About 5800 feet. San Bernardino Mountains. We have had 28 inches of rain in December, most of that coming from this last set of storms which started last Friday. It has finally cleared out and I can see blue sky again.
