Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 1170865 United States 12/24/2010 09:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No one in their right mind would buy phone service from WALMART. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1177012Since I posted my message I've been doing alot of thinking, and I tend to agree with you. I must have been out of my mind, thinking that I could get something of high quality at Wally World. Guess again! So, in light of everything I went through this evening, I have decided to just get a cash refund and take my business elsewhere. Even Kmart has better customer service than Walmart! Or Target, etc, etc........ Walmart is awful....that store lost my business. It's too bad that I had to go through this to wake up. |

I understand your frustration; however, I don't see where Walmart did anything wrong. They exchanged your defective phone without hassle, and if they give you a cash refund for the replacement phone I can't see a problem. As far as I know that is pretty much the return policy of all businesses. In your original post you said, "So, I called the Central Square Walmart and told them that to make up for all the trouble I was having, that I wanted them to exchange this piece of garbage for an LG phone - the one I had before and should have stuck with - and a free airtime card to make up for all this trouble." It seems to me that you expected some sort of a bonus for your troubles, but that is not the way businesses operate, at least not any businesses I have dealt with. |

I expect a business to make up for shoddy merchandise, not to mention all the trouble I had to go through for that piece of garbage cell phone. This is typical behavior on the part of Walmart and I won't let them get away with it. If they won't cooperate, I'll just file a BBB complaint against that store and Straight Talk. And I'll make sure that their hq in Arkansas gets a copy! I expected a decent upgrade and did NOT deserve all the nonsense I've been forced to put up with. My medical history requires that I have a reliable phone on hand at all times. I will not put up with such trash. Walmart did wrong. |

Just go to the BBB website or complaints.com and type in "Straight Talk" or "Tracfone." You'd be amazed how many complaints they have! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1222425 United States 01/10/2011 03:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Had the same issue with the phone I got. Only I couldn't return it, as bought in one state while traveling and the local store wouldn't exchange it. So I had to contact Straight Talk. When you call them, you are given the option for English or Spanish. When you press 1 for English, you are transferred to INDIA! Could not understand a word that was said and they barely grasped the English language. So I hung up, pressed 2 for Spanish. When the csr answered, English por favor, and presto, at least an accent I can understand!!!! I sent an email to Straight Talk asking WHY customer service was outsourced to India and asked for a customer service number here in the states. Received a reply back apologizing for the problems and was given another telephone number. Guess where that number goes to? ASIA!!!! No wonder we have record unemployment! All of our jobs are being outsourced to Asia & India!!!! I will never purchase another Straight Talk product. Am going to start researching every product I purchase that might require customer service, and if it is outsourced, I will not purchase. So buyers beware. When you purchase Straight Talk phones, you are taking jobs away from your fellow Americans.... Walmart is also going to lose my business. So much for their BUY AMERICAN campaign... |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1224395 United States 01/10/2011 03:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Las month, on Black Friday, I purchased a Samsung Straight Talk phone that was on sale for $45, including an unlimited service card for a month. Since I got that phone, I've been having various problems, like poor reception, feedback, etc. One of my friends even told me that most of the time, whenever I'd call him he heard a humming noise in the background. Quoting: DianaJuneSo I finally got fed up and exchanged this phone today at the same store (Central Square NY) for the exact same model. Big mistake. The reception problems are even worse, I still can't text and my calls keep getting dropped. So, I called the Central Square Walmart and told them that to make up for all the trouble I was having, that I wanted them to exchange this piece of garbage for an LG phone - the one I had before and should have stuck with - and a free airtime card to make up for all this trouble. They refused, saying that a free airtime card was up to Straight Talk. So I called that outfit several times, got the run around (of course) and finally reached a supervisor who gave me his name and id#. He told me that when I return the phone next week, to have them call him and he would authorize them to do what I requested. We'll see if that happens. I've been home for several hours and so far, my Christmas Eve absolutely sucks. I've got a piece of crap phone and Walmart doesn't care one bit. Straight Talk sucks bigtime. Needless to say, I'm not in a very good mood. I checked "complaints.com" and found numerous complaints about Straight Talk. When I went to the BBB website, I found that Tracfone, which owns Straight Talk, has literally thousands of complaints on file, yet it has an A+ rating. That makes no sense whatsoever. My point is this: buyer beware! Do NOT get the Samsung phone at Walmart that includes the $45 unlimited card. It's a piece of junk that's so not worth the hassles it will give you. If anyone out there has any suggestions as to how to handle this, I'd appreciate it. I'm at wits end and am not in a Christmas mood. I have 2 phones and I've never had problems with them..For over 2 yrs..Plus I know others that have them and they LOVE them.. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1201807 United States 01/10/2011 04:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hate to say it but I switched from ATT to straighttalk, I couldn't stand the cost of ATT but had great service with them. I bought the cheapest straightalk phone I could find. Works great ! The 411 service is the worst tho and can't call outside the country. When you call 411 you are inundated with commercials..buy this, buy that etc.. would hate to be in emergency looking for a number..The price is much cheaper than ATT |
