anyone else having a drink on this christmas day

don't drink gave it up 5 years ago..but I like you had a tough time giving Christmas to my kids this year..

they are 19 and 14 and 12,I found a store an hour from me( I live in goomerville) and they were closing out so they had 70% off alot of stuff that was a dollar..I started my kids hopechests they got set of silverware,towels and face cloths...stuff like that..I am thankful my kids are'nt the have to have the newest gadgets for Christmas...

so I will lift my glass of no-name pop to you and toast have a Happy Holiday season

This actually isn't anything special, I have a similar mix every few days (3-5) to warm me, relax me and to put the pain 'over there'.

It actually works better than popping a Darvocet or Percocet or vicodin.

Happy to hear that a lean Christmas is appreciated in your house. Its lean times all around and a lot of kids are getting a lot less than they usually do and are not taking it nicely.

I think deep recessions and economic recessions teach us a few things, and I suspect that kids will learn (the hard way) that we need to be grateful even when we don't get much.

well my daughter is 8 , so its still easy to shop for her, i spent less than 50 bucks on her, and thats all i spent for xmas, i also bought a bag of hersheys candy for 2.75 and that was a real treat for us, and i have a 3/4 bottle of vodka stashed away that i decided to finish off today, a poor christmas by most peoples standards , but still fun, good for you and your kids and thank you for the toast.

It's been a whole day of drinking for me. Wonderful time.

yes, thank you, it was nice to see my daughters jaw drop for a 12 dollar barbie, she is a great kid, and i got her a coin purse for 3.50 and stuck 3 dollars in there and she loves it,she thinks she is the richest kid in the world, haha, now im just having my present, a drink that i havent had in a long time, it can still be a great holiday without spending much, merry Christmas.

haha,wow, gas money these days is so important, sometimes i look at my gas tank and think , sheez what happened to my gas, i just filled it up a few days ago and havent driven my car that far, but what a great gift, gas money!!!

great, vodka here, im finishing off a bottle i had stashed for a special occasion, and today is that occasion, haha, merry christmas, cheers!!

having some dark cruzan rum in my coke tonight. made a coca cola baked ham for my mother who is 83 and bedridden with alzheimer's and my little 11 yr old yorkie. my best friend is coming over to exchange christmas geegaws. we had a white christmas here in NW georgia for the 1st time in 125 yrs. lovely, peaceful magical. watching history channel bible shows all day. 'feeling' my ancestors here with me.

thats sounds nice, im in texas, it was so warM a few days ago, but yesterday it rained and its been freezing the last few days, i wish i had some turkey to eat, just a bag of chips for now with my drink, i will see later what will be for dinner, haha.

But tonight (I'm on the West Coast this year) after the boys are bedded down and Christmas has run its course, I have a nice new bottle of Hennessey cognac calling my name.

Fortunately, both my boys spent the day skiing at Mt Hood Meadows, so they should be tired and sacked out by 10PM.

I'm one of 14 adopted kids. Was like growing up in a year round disorganized summer camp, lol, but never dull. This year I spent it with my youngest sister who is 18. After our parents passed, the rest of the family scattered to the wind, after bickering for 2 years over money. Not a new story I know, but still painful. She and I are the only ones that remain close. So, this year we started our own traditions. Christmas Eve is just us. we share present, and drink hot chocolate, watch Christmas movies all night in our fuzzy jammies and just be girls. Christmas day we pitch in and throw a big dinner for neighbors that don't have family to spend it with. There were 13 people today. It was really nice :) Now she went out w/ a gf for a few hours to visit a few friends... And I am enjoying a nice glass of white merlot. All in all, not too shabby a day!! :-D
