They originally came because someone wrongfully accused my husband of firing a crossbow in our yard (crossbows are legal in our state). He told them he was not firing a crossbow and there was not a crossbow outside or any evidence of one being outside. The police asked him for ID and he refused on grounds that he wasn’t doing anything to facilitate them asking for ID. Next thing he knew the police jumped him, then the police tripped over our steps and crashed through a wooden fence which injured the officers hand. They slammed my husbands head against my front door, breaking my door (I can’t even shut it properly now and have to replace it) and sprayed him with mace and started beating the crap out of him. All of a sudden my husband is being charged with assault on an officer?! SOMETHING IS WRONG HERE!!!!!" |

When I was a kid, I used to be a bowmaker. Real Do's that had serious range and velocity. Also was a budding rifleman. Practiced with both openly although air rifle mostly, but still out in the open my property, other private properties, public land.... Cops knew a good citizen back then and NEVER hassled me once. I do not know what would happen if a confrontation like that were to arise these days. |

The SCOTUS has ruled numerous times, the only ID that anyone is required to give is A NAME. A means 1, not first middle, last, date of birth, address or anything else. Give the cop a name, know the law yourself, hiring an attorney is proof to the courts you are incompetent to speak as an adult. Kill them with their own laws and stand up for your own damn rights, nobody else, no matter how much you pay them, is going to do it. |

Don't argue, resist or obstruct the police, even if you are innocent or police are violating your rights. Keep your hands where police can see them. Ask if you are free to leave. If the officer says yes, calmly and silently walk away. If you are under arrest, you have a right to know why. You have the right to remain silent and cannot be punished for refusing to answer questions. If you wish to remain silent, tell the officer out loud. In some states, you must give your name if asked to identify yourself. You do not have to consent to a search of yourself or your belongings, but police may "pat down" your clothing if they suspect a weapon. You should not physically resist, but you have the right to refuse consent for any further search. If you do consent, it can affect you later in court.
