HEY GLP!!! Ever wondered what the INSIDE of the Florida Aquifer looks like? CAVE DIVING PICS INSIDE.
GLP... there are a few frames from a video a friend and I did in November... This is inside the Florida Aquifer. The cave we entered is called "Peacock 1" and is located in PEACOCK SPRINGS STATE PARK which is in in Mayo, Florida.

Thought I would share my passion of cave diving with you. I will post a link to some videos sometime in the future.

Thankfully... no oil from the gulf... yet.

Yeah it was above average clarity that day. Many Florida caves are so clear it feels like you are in air.

Some of the low flow caves can get pretty hazy however.

Devils Ear/Eye is like diving in open air it is so clear.

Actually, not really.

The fish do not go where there is no light. So you will rarely see a fish beyond the "cavern zone". The cavern zone is the first part of the cave where sunlight can shine in... once you are in a hundred feet or so in most caves all light is gone.

There are these "transparent" crawfish things that are blind and you will see those in the cave. I will go see if I have a pic I took of one. They are cool you can see their hearts through their transparent bodies.

You will also run into "bacterial colonies" sometimes that look like cotton balls.

These pics where done around 2000 feet back in the system form the cave entrance so the nearest light is 2000 feet away (other then the 4 lights each we had with us) so no critters.

The other plus is the gators don't go in there either. ;) You only get to play with those in the caverns (rare) or outside in the basin where you do deco sometimes.

Each time a person stands for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he or she sends forth a tiny ripple of hope. And crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance. Few are willing to embrace the disapproval of their fellows, the censure of their colleagues, the wrath of their society. Moral courage is a rarer commodity than bravery in battle or great intelligence. Yet it is the one essential vital quality for those who seek to change a world that yields most painfully to change. If you are ever heading to cave country let me know and we can go do a casual dive at Ginnie or something.

Cave diving can be expensive to get all the gear you want (which you always want more -- lol) but I have about $20,000 in diving gear (tanks, regs, scooters, etc etc) and around $10,000 invested in a HD Underwater Video setup (Gates Housing, Sony HD cams, lights etc).

Once you have your gear though a $80 annual state pass will get you in tons of places to dive all year... only gas for the truck to get there and gas for your cylinders at that point.

You can get basic cave diving gear that you would need for "most" cave diving for $2000 or so.

cave1

Snapping turtle we "captured" while hanging out outside the cave at 20 feet doing deco.

transpar

Transparent blind crawfish. One of the few animals you will see "back in the caves" because the don't live where there is light.

cave3

Another plus side to diving in Florida Springs... the surface creatures. Amazing what effect the "cold" 72 degree water has on nipples.... LOL.

My friend got a big grin and pointed the camera at me at which point I knew I better look over my shoulder... LOL

"A sense of common interest can be fostered among individuals, if they know that they are inter-connected, are parts of one Organic System and are the sons and daughters of one Father. Here is the task of all religions; to teach people that all beings of the world are closely inter-related. Although steadfastness or firm belief in God (Nistha) according to some particular faith and eligibility of the individual is congenial for healthy spiritual growth of every individual, religious bigotry which begets enmity is condemnable, as it is against the real interest of the individual and society. Real religion teaches love for one another. Lord Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu propagated the cult of all-embracing Divine Love which brings universal brotherhood on a transcendental plane.

"If one loves Krishna, he must love Lord Jesus also. And if one perfectly loves Jesus he must love Krishna too. If he says, "Why shall I love Krishna? I shall love Jesus," then he has no knowledge.
