NOW IT'S SNOWING -- IN PHOENIX...
Plunging temperatures and lingering cloud cover brought a rare sight to many parts of the Valley today - brief periods of snow flurries, the National Weather Service said.

Sightings were reported in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Fountain Hills, Cave Creek, Peoria, Glendale and Anthem and parts of Phoenix.

The Weather Service confirmed the reports in several of those communities.

Weather Service officials said the phenomenon may have included something called graupel, a form of soft hail that can occur under certain conditions. But many residents were convinced what they saw was indeed snow flurries.

Several residents separately confirmed seeing falling flurries, including several in the Scottsdale area.

Tommy Leclere, manager of Carlsbad Tavern restaurant near Hayden and Osborn roads, said pea-sized snow flakes began falling from the sky around 12:30 p.m. It came down intermittently for about 15 minutes, with the flakes hitting the ground and melting.

Here in Chandler. It just got a lot colder quickly. I went from shorts to jogging pants! Think I'm gonna put on Coast to Coast now and take a nap under a thick blanket. :)

I only saw hail in north Phoenix, but there were definitely snow flurries in some parts of the Valley of the Sun.

Wizard's Rule #1: "People are stupid. Given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. People will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People’s heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool."
Primordial Rule: "The rule unwritten. It is the secret of all life. It is the essence of life itself. You are a creator and master of your own reality. You ultimately make your own rules."
