There is a lot of desert, but people still dwell there. Farmers and indiginous Aussies. I have not seen much of Australia. The size of it would blow your mind.

Based on past experiences, you will band together and help each other through this awful catastrophe.

Australians are a tough and generous people.

Big flood even for Queensland, weird to have got hit twice with big floods so quickly though.
The losses are in the billions, much of the area hit is major agriculltural and mining. Its freaky seeing pictures of orchards when all you can see are the tops of the trees in a sea of water.

Food prices will be going up, disease is already being talked about as some towns are having their water and sewerage supplies affected, not to mention the dead animals.

Some of the towns have had rivers peaking at 16m, thats a lot of water coming through your house and even though we build for flooding you cant get everything up high, what are you going to do with your cars............

So lots of damage so far, people are now being evacutaed by the military and its looking possible that Bundaberg city could also be affected. Roads are cut, some places dont have access to air travel or rail so are truly isolated and food drops are now starting to be organised. And the water can take weeks to go down.

Most of our population is on the coasts, as you go further inland the population dwindles, but there are still people living there. Obviously.

I believe there is another flood coming next week for inland queensland
Captain Bligh and Julia Gizzard has each donated 1 million dollars of taxpayers money to the cause and have asked that fellow aussies dig deep with donations...However they are still giving many more millions to overseas aid

Residents in the central Queensland city of Rockhampton will face forced evacuations from their homes if they do not move out of flood-affected areas.

The hard part for some people is that during these forced evacuations they are not allowed to take their pets with them, I think thats a bit sad.

Just flew home from Queensland last night, I fortunately was in the Brisbane region at the time and didn't come across any floods (though the city's river did over flow in some parts) - The week I visited it rained everyday, though the day I left it was stinking hot! I'm in Victoria now with 42'C/110'F heat :S

I am just north of the sunshine coast and we have the Mary river just down the road, we also have inlets from the river and were flooded in for two and a half days,,,it was great, mostly because the road gets cut off, the water never comes close to the house as we are too high
