UK Swine Flu updates Feb 3 - 395 confirmed deaths, 327 in Critical Care | |

Flu is highly preventable. All y'all had to do was take enough vitamin D and you wouldn't have this mess. [link to www.vitamindcouncil.org] |

What's the weather like in the north and south UK? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1192748The South West has been a few degrees milder than elsewhere and we haven't had any reports of deaths or critical cases. I haven't heard any problems at our local hospitals either. Last Edited by [•REC] on 01/11/2011 03:57 AM When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth. Repent! Anonymous Coward User ID: 1192748 United States 01/10/2011 03:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Virologists are concerned with three aspects of any influenza virus: (1) novelty, (2) transmissibility, (3) lethality. The current H1N1 is novel, that is, we have no antibodies to this strain. Its transmissibility is high but its lethality (percent who die after infection) is still low, except in Mexico. Why it was so lethal in Mexico, no one knows. Will that lethality return as the virus mutates this summer? Keep in mind that the lethality of the 1918 flu was high, perhaps a billion people infected, a half billion became ill, and, at the most, one tenth of a billion died. Until the 2009 virus exposes its lethality, and it may not do so until next fall or winter, we are all playing an involuntary game of Russian roulette. Does that help? That article from India is silly, no offense. [link to www.vitamindcouncil.org] |

I am sorry but I don't believe you. I am in Yorkshire and my friend was an emergency admission on New Years day into ICU. Not with swine flu but the ICU was full and overflowing with flu victims on ventilators. It has been all the staff can talk about as so many of them are off sick, too. A ward used for non-emergency surgery has been closed and used for flu cases and that too is full. The staff say they have never seen anything like it. |

[•REC] (OP) User ID: 714968 United Kingdom 01/13/2011 10:54 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Weekly influenza report, 13 January 2011 [link to www.hpa.org.uk] 13 January 2011 In the past week, the HPA has confirmed a further 62 deaths from flu across the UK, bringing the total number since the flu season began in October this year to 112. Most of these deaths did not occur in the past week - a substantial number of these 62 deaths occurred in December but due to the backlog over the seasonal holiday period they have only been confirmed this week. Where information is available on the fatal cases, 63 out of 81 (78 per cent) were in a clinical 'at risk' group for vaccination. Where information on vaccine status was available for this season's trivalent vaccine, 40 out of 47 had not received their jab this season.
