the field (aether) does not move, motion moves through it thus utilizing your analogy of the batter , he is always "in contact" with the field thus utilizes energy/information from the field to decide to hit the ball.

thus all three, the field, the batter and the ball conform to the conditions set by the field`s interaction of that location

not sure when light became important to human emotion

the idea to measure it`s velocity was arrived at to confirm the belief that it`s velocity of motion was the limit of motions velocity
this was convenient to fit into the beliefs of both a creator god or a mechanical environment

it fitted god belief because it set a finite limit to our access to god as in:
god the creator of light was beyond our reach because nothing possessing weight (material) could reach the velocity required to enter/reach god

it fitted the mechanical environment belief by allowing for a "to small to detect" particle to exist and commence random collision with other particles, thus forming the material universe we observe within the finite mechanical material machine our universe must be

limiting boundaries/mechanics are required for a machine to be a machine and light velocity supplied that boundary

what light has to do with consciousness i don`t see

there is no light when asleep or in a coal mine but we are as conscious without it`s presence as we are with it

I believe a factor worth considering in the progression from the microscopic to the macroscopic. Is that exponentially increasing complexity adds the third point to the geometric equation and ultimately manifests as fractal dimensional expansion.

utilizing your faster than light sense enables you to "see" the information within the carrier (sound)

your faster than light sense impress the visuals in your mind thus inform your optical senses therefore you "see"

it matters not to you the shape of the sound wave (tone) because you will always detect the information

thus the reason sound effects your emotions is discernible to you because you are aware that it is not the mechanical/chemical effect of sound waves (tones) on your sensory organs/body but it is the information that those tones/shapes carry detected by your faster than light senses

in nature those tones/shapes contain motive as in :
the information to enact the effect the transmitter of the sound desires upon it`s receivers

humanity, in replicating the tones/shapes, is now discovering that these shapes/tones effect things ,not just because of shape or pitch (mechanical/chemical) but because of the information placed within the wave to force the shapes/tones the information forms

this, when you see sound form patterns in sand, on a tight skin surface, the mechanical part of it, exists because we replicate natures tones and when we do, the mechanical appearance of pattern forming occurs

what we know know is those tones in nature contain information, as in :
motive

so our next leap is to replicate the tones utilizing the same motive (information) as does nature
