BREAKING: Shift of Earth's magnetic north pole impacts Tampa airport!

Moving 40 miles a year and when does it figure it will stop? I'm trying to find out if we are going to be the new equator, sorry Europe you are going to be the new North Pole. Sweet does that mean NE United States will be the equator?!! Don't know if my skin can handle that much sun, LOL.

People in the High Arctic say their 24-hour darkness isn't as dark as it used to be, and a weather researcher says it's because of the warming climate.

"We still have a daylight and there's still blue, green, red down there — there's sun sign still," said Zipporah Ootooq Aronsen, who lives in Resolute Bay, Nunavut. "It's not usually like that."

The current magnetic north pole is lying underneath the Arctic Sea and will more than likely land in Siberia before we know it, but the bigger concern would be a complete shift of the poles. According to the New York Post, while it wouldn’t bring on the destruction of Earth, it would in fact change things like which direction vultures circle in, where animals prefer to live and move their herds to, birds flying south for the summer and north for the winter and things of that nature. Nothing too bad right?

Wow, just wow. I'm glad I was nice on the "My compass is off" thread. GLP rocks, everyone is so far ahead of the curve!

The article describes in detail the impact on the airport and the changes it is forced to make to the runways to accomodate the magnetic shift.

But nary a mention of why the shift is occuring or if it is even something to be worried about. You'd think by reading this article that it was a normal occurence.

My office overlooks 36R/18L at TPA, they shutdown 36L/18R on Monday and all the traffic has been taking off/landing over my office ever since - I thought they were doing routine maintenance, I had no idea until today that they were re-labeling the runways (guess I'll have to get use to saying 1R/19L...).

One of the many many things I love about GLP is that nothing gets by you guys! The news is always here first. So at the risk of sounding like a moran, is this why the sun is setting in a more south westerly direction as opposed to due west?
