UPDATED: Please read! Can anyone tell me what this language is and what it means? | |
| Juniper from Jupiter (OP) User ID: 1214567 01/07/2011 03:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well the French and the Portuguese translation both fit well enough. I could settle on either at this point. Until I have another incident involving this language. Quoting: skyblau 1220831You could take it to notably respected French and Portuguese speakers, and see if they concur or disapprove. That would help clarify. GLP isn't exactly the height of truthful response... by the way it is hard to write the letters on paint pro with an unsteady hand. another thing, what would have I to gain in telling others what I know. Additionally, the word SARRU has several meanings, People, land and kingship. I can only translate it as best as I can using the other words that I know as clues. And as for the word NEH it is can also be used as Negative to negate a verb. So if dont know anything about the language yourself, maybe you should quit assuming you know more than anyone else. I see your point. I do have one thing to add... if it is a language not of this earth... then perhaps he shouldn't apply all the rules of an earthly language to a language that isn't of this planet. So I'm not saying that I believe you, skyblau, but I'm not saying I disbelieve you. Especially since you put some time and effort into this. Quoting: skyblau 1220831Graphics tablet, or mouse, or camera/scanner pen and paper would resolve that. Also, you could have like, an uploaded or very well written alphabet of letters on hand that you can just copy and paste the individual letters from to form the sentence. another thing, what would have I to gain in telling others what I know. Quoting: skyblau 1220831Some people get a kick out of making stuff up and stringing people along. Sometimes people truly believe the stuff and they feel it's some sort of heroic thing, other times people are simply trolling. Psychopaths like toying with people as well. Beats me. Do you think I gain anything about trying to disprove a language? Aside from yet more hassle. Additionally, the word SARRU has several meanings, People, land and kingship. Quoting: skyblau 1220831SARRU? We were talking KARRU before. The problem is, your language and words and letters are two ambiguous. And SARRU/SA'RRUN/SARRUN is only mentioned three times. People is mentioned five. It's a basic mathematics error. And as for the word NEH it is can also be used as Negative to negate a verb. Quoting: skyblau 1220831This does not agree with it's usage. One "NEH" is used at the end of a sentence negating nothing, another is attached to the end of a word. Only one floats in front of a word. Out of three. Besides, I wasn't make alludes to it's translation; I was pointing out people is quoted 5 times, and the most you got for any word is 3 (NEH being the most consistent and likely). 3 does not equal to 5, regardless of the word. So if dont know anything about the language yourself, maybe you should quit assuming you know more than anyone else. Quoting: skyblau 1220831Ma'am, there is no-one who knows this language. I am surprised you even seem to think you know it. You see, I've had to deal with very rubbish biblical translations, working in two ambiguous (hebrew, greek) languages to get the meaning correct. I also had a (coptic) greek language scratched into my arm by an invisible entity. Along with other mysterious scratches of symbols and the like. And at the time, I didn't even know what greek looked like. So I know quite bit of history on languages. And greek was the origin of the letter Y you are using [upsilon]. Modern-day languages use joined-up writing (bar some) so yours is a much older obscure off-shoot, and your language makes use of the lambda, the ox symbol ('a'), Ys and their variants, an out-dated version of the number '3' (with the extra tail at the top) and other symbols I am pretty sure I recongise from a proto-greek or greek-language offshoot but I can't be arsed to manually research individual images to gain a pattern match on the symbols. And even if I didn't know anything about the language? I use the same basic psychologist trick the 'hypnotist' Darren Brown uses (where he plays chess masters off against themselves). I basically had you re-read your own writing, and your own translation disagrees with your own translation. So I know you are faking it. Now, if you don't mind, I have some headache locations to go plot and impending doom to preferably avert. Good Day. (P.S.; If you were really honest, you wouldn't be hiding behind a proxy, now, would you?) |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1126068I took a Native American music class during college and this sounds A LOT like some sort of Navajo or Cherokee language. If I were you, I'd look into this. That sounds like a good plan. I just wish I knew where to begin looking. It's funny, because I actually have Cherokee somewhere in my ancestry. |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 1126068 01/07/2011 04:46 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well, I'd start by calling your local university. Check with the foreign language department. See if anyone there knows anything. If not, then try calling the department of Native American Studies and ask a professor. Seriously, I spent 4 and a half months listening to A LOT of Navajo and Cherokee and I'm pretty sure it's one of those. |

I know I'm probably going to be crucified for this... but I've only ever seen one Star Wars movie, and that was because we had to watch it in high school... So I don't understand your reference. I'll have to youtube it! =] |

Still sticking with Native American or japanese -- and that link on the original post with the "elvish" script looks pretty promising as well. |
