Remember this movie? Ozone, magnetic anamolies--John Corbett--COUNTDOWN: THE SKY'S ON FIRE
Hey everyone--

Awhile back, I watched a made-for-TV movie, and it seems appropriate for right now. It's called, "Countdown: The Sky's on Fire." It's about really big ozone holes in the sky and how it starts to cause magnetic anamolies on the earth, and affecting fish, birds, insects, and people--they all start to die. It's one of those made-for-TV movies, and I really like John Corbett, who stars in it, but I think it really touches home when you watch it.

I personally, like the movie. It's pretty good, and is spot on, when it shows how such a catastrophic event could affect life--neurologic effects: the brain and eyes are affected, birds are confused, dropping dead from the skies, fish dying in the waters, etc.

I tried to find it on Youtube, but no luck. Can anyone find some of this video online? I've had no luck.

What do you think?

Funny, the title...the past few mornings and evening the sky has indeed looked radically different - like it's on fire - with some of the most bizarre cloud formations I have ever seen

Re: Remember this movie? Ozone, magnetic anamolies--John Corbett--COUNTDOWN: THE SKY'S ON FIRE
OP: Check out the bargain bins at Wal-Mart! I found the "COUNTDOWN: The Sky's On Fire" movie there for $5.00 - and it IS a pretty good film. But: I did think the ending was a little too contrived considering everything that had come before and the sheer scope of what was happening globally.

They also have compilation sets that have four movies for $5.00 in one package containing two discs [double-sided discs] that have some little-seen titles. There are at least three "Sci-Fi Collector's Sets" like these available and on my favorite set there is a really GOOD film called SUPERNOVA starring Peter Fonda that has the sun literally frying the earth to a crisp. Oddly, several of these films deal with 1. the ozone layer depletion or 2. black holes [the set above that contains SUPERNOVA also has a film called THE BLACK HOLE that has an anomoly opened up by an accident at an LHC facility!] Most of these flms look like they were made for the Hallmark Channel - not always such a bad thing... Hallmark sinks a good chunk of cash into their films. And: at $1.25 each for the films in these $5.00/four-packs you really can't go wrong on the price.

Sometimes in those bargain racks/bins at Wal-Mart you really can strike DVD gold!!
