US Coins appear to have very little silver in them nowadays and buying old silver coins from a coin dealer is very expensive.

If you live in a large city, phone any one of the main downtown Banks and ask if they have a bullion desk.
I buy all my 100oz bars from banks.
As for 1oz coins. Call around to all the coin shops in your area.
