Interesting! There is a highway running acorss this faultline in the near distance in the video.

This reminds me of a video I watched of the Great Rift Valley which is also growing wider and deeper, both signs of the movement of the plates - the African and Asian plates from Mozambique as far as Syria.

I'm telling ya, that is mine subsidence. Ive seen stuff like that before in my hometown. The ground doesn't always sink in subsidence, sometimes it lifts in places (overcompensation for the sink somewhere else)

I measured from Chicago to the center point on the Michigan peninsula and it is roughly two hundred nautical miles

The crack is nowhere near the New Madrid fault, and clearly NOT any kind of earthquake fault, but merely a common geologic disturbance.

I dont have an explanation for it, but the size and rate its opening compared to the scale of surrounding land is minuscule

What is the surrounding land have to do with it? And I have a feeling about it. Wake up and see the changes happening before you...If my land had a 600 foot crack develop all of a sudden with heat coming out..forget it

I think it is a branch off the New Madrid that we are seeing in the video...
Fault lines have branches that are connected to them...I think what's happening in the video is , we are seeing one of those branches becoming active/opening up.
It makes sense that the areas further from the actual fault would show signs of stress, before there was a major event on the fault it's self.
The branches aren't as strong as the fault it's self is, and begin to tear when the fault moves....the fault line is used to moving, to a certain degree..has a bit of 'wiggle room' ..whereas, the ground further away from it, dosen't...it would show signs of tearing, before the fault would show it..

What people haven't quite connected yet is how deep the crack is.

With this having Yellowstone to one side of it, and Hot Springs Arkansas below it...makes ya wonder if there is magma moving around down under there.
Those magma chambers are huge, and can run for miles underground, away from the visable signs on the surface...
I also tend to believe that many of them are connected underground too, not just individual magma chambers that rise to the surface....more like a series of chambers that are connected underground, with only a couple of openings topside.
I've long had the feeling that all the Volcanoes in Alaska are connected to the same underground magma chamber as the volcanoes along the Oregon/California coast are...just vents topside in differant locations...but the same magma chamber connects them underground.
It was watching the earthquakes that led me to that conclusion...
Seemed like any time the volcanoes in Alaska would start shaking...the ones further down the coast line would start up too..like Mt. St. Helens...

With Yellowstone acting up this past decade, like it has...and now all the earthquakes in Guy Arkansas...looks to me like there is magma moving around under there..
Magma moving around would put stress on that fault too...make the branches coming off of it tear..
Especially if there was magma moving from Yellowstone's chamber, down into Arkansas..
