OP: Nope, Kroger does not double. They used to and then they said they lowered prices and wouldn't be doing it any more. The only grocery store in my city that still doubles coupons is Safeway and they only allow 4 coupons and a value of 50c max to be doubled per coupon.

I live in NC and all of our Kroger store doubles unlimited coupons up to .50 in value. I do think they limit printable coupons to 4 per manufacture though. Maybe I should have kept my secret to myself hf Hope they don't stop here!
 Quoting: KimmieAnnaJones

I don't use coupons alot unless it's actually for something that I need. I just cannot see myself buying stuff that I don't want or need just to save a dollar or two and Harris Teeter is as high as hell! Only rich white people go there. You don't see your average redneck in there. It's too high. Spend $30.00 and come out with 1 bag, yeah right. Not gonna happen.

Here in Dorset,England. Just up the road is the supermarket "icelands" every night their skip is jam packed full of all sorts of food that is perfectly edible.. I never have to buy milk,salt,sugar,cakes,bananas.....You name it.Nothing wrong with any of it. Just go and help myself. So what if people look down on me for doing so.Done it for years and never had any bad from doing so. Another good tip.

Also most of these stores let you apply the coupon directly to the loyalty card. Coupons automatically apply when you swipe.

Not gonna mention the data mining however.

If you teach yourself to cook from scratch and avoid as many store bought/processed items you'll find your food bill will go down considerably.

Buy flour/sugar/pasta/rice/beans in bulk, learn to hunt for meat and grow your own vegetables. Raise chickens, or rabbits and learn to process them yourself.

I've been doing this for over 4 years now and I have been able to cut my expenses way down.

Thanks, great thread! Don't listen to the naysayers.

There are plenty of organic coupons/products to be had. I mean there are even links to some of them in this very first post!
Now that coupons can be printed online there really is no excuse for people to say they don't have time to find & clip coupons.
Where I live we have HEB which has their own in-store coupons as well so you can just pick them up as your shopping. Many of them are for fresh produce, dairy, etc including organic.

Re: How to STOCKPILE FOOD for those that cannot afford to do so....And for FREE!
As you can tell, grocery prices and starting to go through

the roof! A couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine introduced

me to using coupons while items are on sale.

I have never used coupons because I always thought that if

you bought more than one item, let say a box of cereal, I

thought that you could only use one coupon. The truth is that

you can use a coupon for EVERY item you purchase!

She gave me a list of websites to visit that matched coupons

to current sales. Come to find out when you do this, you can

get A LOT of items for FREE! I cannot tell you how amazed I

was after learning this! For instance, yesterday I made a trip

to my local Harris Teeter which is having a super doubles

coupon sale. This means they will double coupons up to $1.98

in value. This means if you have a coupon for $1.00 off, it

doubles to $2.00 off. If you have a coupon that is $1.50

off, well then it is $3.00 off! I purchased about $220.00

worth of groceries for $42.00 with most of that being tax.

Fruits & Vegetables

Commercially frozen fruits will last up to a year in your freezer. Commercially frozen vegetables have a life-span of only eight months. Another option for storing these items for long periods is canning them. If you plan to buy these items in bulk, on a regular basis, it would be a good investment to consider purchasing a canning machine to insure the food is kept air-tight.
Beans

Dried beans kept free from moisture can last for several years. This is an excellent way to stretch your money, plus beans are full of protein for healthy eating.

Drinks

Most juices that you buy, such as apple juice, can last 3-5 years un-opened. If you are unsure of how long your juice will last, contact the manufacturer consumer phone number.

Optional Items

* Chocolate - unsweetened 18 months
* Coffee, vacuum pack - One year
* Milk, canned - One year
* Molasses - Two years
* Nuts - Eight months
* Oils/salad dressings - Three months
* Peanut butter (unopened) - Six months
* Sauces, condiments, relishes (unopened) - One year
* Shortening - Eight months
* Syrups - One year
* Tea - 18 months

The important thing to remember when buying in bulk, is that a deal is only a good deal if you actually use the products that you purchase.

I wanted to add a side note about shelf life.

I recently called the local food bank about donating soon to be expired items from my "earthquake kit on steroids" as I like to refer to it..

They accept and use items 5 years past their expiration date, unless it is acidic items, in that case it is 2 years..

So don't be so quick to toss expired items.

And here's something really weird that I found here in BC (not sure if same is the case in USA), but big grocery stores here often have their sales on Tuesdays, during the day. There's a chain here called "Save-On" (which is actually a bit more expensive than other chains), they sell organic-fed free-range chickens for about $15 each. One Tuesday morning I was in there and all the organic chickens were marked down to $6, so I bought 4 of them. Next day I went back to check and they were up to $15 again. The following Tues morning I went back again and, sure enough, they were marked down to $6 again. I started making Tuesday morning my shopping day and, lo and behold, found the same thing held true for other large grocery outfits. Maybe, like with restaurants, Tuesday is the "slow day" so they figure the good sales won't affect too many people and that's why they do it. However, I have the luxury of working at home, so I can do my grocery shopping any time I like, which wouldn't work for people who have to work Mon-Fri. I also have noticed the highest prices are on Sat/Sun, when most people have to do their shopping because those are their days off. But I have found some great smaller stores that will put their organics on sale too, so the price is comparable to the cheap crap most outfits sell. But it is always the smaller shops that do this for some reason (perhaps they aren't as greedy as the big chains). I was overjoyed with the chickens though, at $15 can't afford them, at $6 I get to enjoy a chicken that tastes like chicken and not cardboard, the difference is astonishing....
