If someone cannot purchase generic store brands stocking they got problems

forget this dummy. you are one great lady and wife...your husband should thank the stars above.

i wold coupon, my problem is if i don't see the coupon i forget i have it. a. d. d. yep what can i do?

Make a list of the sale items that you want to buy before you leave for the store and take out the coupons that you are matching to the sale price, put them in an envelope and Walla!
Just go to the store with list, check off items bought and hand envelope to cashier :)

Chipg, also, if organization or memory is an issue, you would not be alone in that at all. I bought a coupon organization (can also make your own, or get a multi-pocket folder from an office supply). I made coupon categories that made sense to me - dairy, bakery, etc. I keep it with me, cause you never know when you might need to go to the grocery. It's just a habit to build over time; and it is worth doing so. Good luck.

Well, I guess everyone here can afford inflation. hf

No, Kimmie, it's just that most coupon offers are for food that isn't fit to eat. I.E. "Prepared food" from China like crackers, cookies, condiments, etc.

Very seldom do you see a good hardcore offer for REAL food in usable quantities like "Organic (anything), 4 cans for $1.99, no limit"

It costs more in gas to chase the prepared food coupons, than to just buy the stuff at Sam's and Costco for a regular-sized family. (one can per coupon doesn't cut it!)

Again, not true. I posted earlier that I can get (2) 32oz bottles of organic juice for $.99 this week as an example! I almost forgot.. there is a sale until next Tues to get whole grain organic pasta for FREE with your coupon. So what you are suggesting is either an out right lie or you are uninformed/uneducated.

Most of that food is GMO and the companies can afford to give it away because it's all subsidized by the government which means we paid for it with our tax dollars.

You couldn't pay me to eat that crap-HFCS, MSG, GMO soy, cancer causing colors, cancer causing preservatives......there's nothing, NOTHING in those 'foods' that are nourishing.
That's why so many people are overweight, they are nnt getting any nutrition and so their bodies are still hungry and they keep eating all that chemical laced crap.

I am not a fan of spam myself --though my husband grew up eating it and he's converted my kids to liking it. I will say however that the turkey spam isn't half bad! and tastes pretty good mixed in with mac n' cheese, or the cheesey chicken rice casserole we bought from e-foodsdirect.com.

Meats can be freezer stored much longer if you vacuum seal them....btw food saver is running a great sale on vacuum sealer.....I got mine for 24 dollars shipped....check their site.....

I'll never go without one again! I use mine almost daily. I cooked up a butt roast last week on sale, after it was cold, sliced it and using the kitchen scale put portions into sandwich bags, quick freeze, then seal in a large sealer bag. I always have meals to eat, and a large variety!

Just checking: You freeze before sealing it in the bag?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1223872

It depends on what it is. I just put the remainder of the chicken I fried on one of those silicone pads, when frozen, will add it to the bag I was filling last night. I allow enough bag to open, then reseal. The butt roast, yes, it had de-fatted juice added into each little sandwich bag.It made 16 portions, 3 oz each, which is all I need. Husband of course I would take out more! Grated acorn squash makes a delicious pie, grated zuccinni makes dynamite chocolate cake!
I use the pulse when I don't want a tight seal, like with cinnamon buns.

Re: How to STOCKPILE FOOD for those that cannot afford to do so....And for FREE!
I've been doing serious couponing for quite a while now, but when I've mentioned it before on this forum, I've been hit with the "yeah, but that's not food fit to eat" remarks. That may be so, but it's stockpiled in case I need it, and "not the best food to eat, health-wise" is better than NO food to eat, emergency-wise.

To give an idea of how well I do, about 10 days ago when I did my last major couponing trip, it was:

$507.63 before coupons, discounts, and offers

$18.88 after coupons, discounts, and offers.

And yes, those figures are correct, not a typo. That's the total from two different grocery stores (Gerbes) and one Wal-Mart in the same shopping trip. Normally I don't do that well -- this was a special case -- but it's quite normal for me to reduce the grocery bill by 80% to 85% of list price, and most of the stuff I still pay for are those items for which there are no coupons... milk, fresh bread, eggs, stuff like that.

You did great on your shopping trips! I think a few people are missing the boat here, sounding condescending towards the OP. She gave good links to look over for coupons, if they work for ya, fine. But truth be known, if any of us hit a period with no money coming in, none to spare, and our kids(or pets!) are hungry, it's always good to have something stocked up. I have a bunch of cans of veggies I normally won't touch (hubby bought), but there may come a day I will be thrilled to have them.

Come on people, don't be coming down on the OP like this!
