In a nutshell - yes! I experienced this VERY strongly the night my father passed over.

Only if they fart or extreme cases actually shit themselves.

I have experienced smelling a dog (not kidding) lol...... that obviously was a ghost - so i would say yes.

...Ignore the idiotic trolls. Yes, ghosts can and do produce scent. This is usually a residual energy. For instance, when investigating paranormal sites, people have ran into the smell of cigars, cigarettes, moth balls.. other strange things, but when looking back into the history, there are either smokers or an employee that smelled the same. Flowers are often smelled as well, this can be either good or bad..

May I ask what scent it is that you have been smelling?

I do believe that spirits, angels and demons and give off a scent to let you know they are present. I have experienced this a few times.

My father used to wear Lagerfeld and I love that scent. He was the only one close to me that wore it. I used to buy it for him at Christmas.

My father accepted Christ 1 year before he passed, so I know he's in heaven. Once in a while, out of the blue, I'll get a whiff of Lagerfeld. I just smile and say hello. I believe he is my angel, watching over me and my kids. He was very close to my children. He also leaves pennies in the weirdest places! Like my shoes, the fridge and my car dashboard. Just little reminders.

Now, I haven't always been a Christian. I used to walk a Wicca path. There I came across some pretty nasty stuff. Sometimes it was flowery like narcissus or roses. Sometimes it was nasty like sulfur or rotting meat. You really can't be sure what an invocation will bring once the door is opened.

yes... and if they smell like shit, they are a low life kind of spirit, and if they smell like roses they are a higher spirit.... so the smell as we would catogorize them is very telling to the kind of spirit around you.

some people had an uncle who smoked cigars and when he died he did not leave the earth plan and wanders around relatives, and they will report smelling a faint order of cigar smoke... it is him...

I have smelt sulfur and roses... AND NO I DIDN'T FART.

roses has often been associated with the Blessed Mother. Sulfur is usually old satan. if you smell sulfur, best to pray immediately.

Ghosts and other spirits are well known for farting up a storm under certain conditions. If the owner of a haunted house has beans for dinner, the ghosts can actually cause explosions.

My Mother was a smoker, {{God rest her soul}}, and everytime her spirit visits me I smell cigarette smoke. She always visits just before a major event. Like a big accident, a birth , a death, or other BIG life event.

Yes, they can definitely leave a scent behind.

Exactly the same thing my grandmother does. She was a smoker and that's her way of letting me know she's around. Lovely smell. LOL

my grandmother, whom i think became my guardian angel after she died when I was 9, always smells like fresh brewed coffee when she visits.... and when she visits, it is always in time of trouble exactly as was mentioned earlier by another poster in this thread.

ok. so this does happen to others, now the million dollar question.. I believe in Heaven, I really do, so how can they be in Heaven and visit us here on Earth?? I am truly conflicted on this one..

That's weird. I smell coffee in my condo sometimes. I don't even have coffee. I drink tea.

I am on the second floor and it's not coming from my neighbor. I haven't smelled it lately.

this is a question i would personally like to have answered. i have read countless accounts of grandmothers watching over granddaughters, fathers watching over daughters as guardians. i believe my husband is hanging around me but he shouldn't be. it is my hunch that he is disobeying by hanging around me, but maybe he is hanging around until he is sure i am ok. i don't want him to leave, but i don't want him to stay if he is supposed to cross over and refuses to do so. not sure what to think on that level. we have free will, and it is eternal.

If he's trying to communicate with you, please let him.

YES!! My mother visited me. How do I know? I could "smell" her. Check out Sylvia Brown. She too knows when her father visits. How? She can smell the distinctive odor of the cigars he used to smoke.
