Krakatau Volcano Eruptions .. I fail to see the cataclysmic doom in this.

So, other than the volcanolive website, which shows old eruptions, can I not find any news flashes any where on the web??? Nothing on 1stheadlines.com or google search. Pleae provide a link.

Hey, at least you don't have to worry about insurance. Krakatau melts your hut? Just build another hut somewhere else. Or, build another hut in the same spot on top of the lava flow, and wait for the next one.

The panic is a little confusing, though. You'd think, living at the base of a volcano, people would have their evacuation plans and bug out bags ready all the time.

The volcano is a small island with no inhabitants. It emerged from below sea level in 1928 and has been erupting pretty much steadily since.

From what I have read it erupts on a pretty regular basis...2007-11, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1997, 1996, 1994-95, 1992-93, 1988, 1981, 1980, 1979, 1978, 1975, 1972-73, 1969?, 1965?, 1959-63, 1958-59, 1955, 1953, 1952, 1950, 1949, 1946-47, 1946, 1945, 1944, 1943, 1942, 1941, 1938-40, 1937, 1936, 1935, 1932-34, 1931-32, 1927-30, 1883, 1680-81, 1550, 1350, 1150, 1050, 950, 850, 416, 250...why is everyone so worried about this one?

We are 20 years on with only eruptions of about 4 VEI. It must be time for a couple of eruptions with a 5 and maybe even low 6 VEI. Let's just pray we don't see another 7 like Tamboro.

The big Krakatoa volcano was a sizable island in 1883 when it literally blew up. Only about a fourth or so of that island remains. The volcano itself has been rising out of the sea for the last 80 years and is gathering strength but probably needs hundreds or thousands of years to come anywhere near its 1883 strength. Al least it won´t happen this century.
