OP, at first I found it quite disconcerting to hear all the yelling and whistling (and that was before Obama even started to speak, although it did continue).

I even commented about it on a thread here on GLP.


However, after watching it, and listening to the speech by Obama, I admit that it was good. I imagine it the victims' families felt very supported by the outpouring of emotion from the crowd, and I now have re-thought my original knee jerk reaction to the "cheers". It was meant to be feel like "we are united" and that's ok, and actually *is* appropriate.
