A few years ago in 6 European countries where it is illegal for private citizens to own handguns, there was a total (all 6 countries combined) of 57 deaths from handguns, in one year. During the same year, the United States had approximately 27,000 deaths from guns. ENOUGH SAID.

I'm no fan of Obama at all. I typically call him Bam-Bam and believe because of his father's lack of U.S. citizenship makes Bam-Bam ineligible to be POTUS.

Now...with that being said; I have to agree that his speech writers wrote a fantastic speech with just the right tone. He denounced the political rhetoric that has surrounded this tragedy, he paid respect to the victims and gave a stirring speech that we all live up to the ideals that 9 year old Christina believed we should all live.


Do I think that he meant it? I don't know...I'm very cynical about Bam-Bam, but I have to give him kudos for a speech well delivered AND without aid of a teleprompter.



The person who brought me to tears and choked me up though was Daniel Hernandez...his humility shook me to the core. His was the best speech tonight.

I can't believe people actually cheer for a President as if this is some kind of football game and he is the star player. I mean seriously? See, this kind of bullshit is what leads to dictators rising to power.

He is one man, no better than you or I... his policies are all that should matter, not his looks or his savvy and totally unfelt speeches delivered in the proper manner in an effort to invoke an emotional response from a mindless public.

It's funny, the vast majority of Obama fans are also the same ignorant morons who talk about how organized religion is evil and bad for society and how anyone who takes part in it should no longer be considered a member of the human species. Yet they, in their inane stupidity and hypocrisy, are doing the exact same thing they despise. Only here, Obama is their God, the Deomcratic party is their church, and they go around calling down hellfire and brimstone on anyone who doesn't agree with them.

Nobody thinks for themselves anymore. Nobody stops being a part of the "in-crowd" long enough to remember that they are American first and foremost. And that American means, at its core, a free thinking human being. We believe in the union of a free people, in a deomcratic republic, in goodness and honor. Bloodshed, to us, is only reserved for those who wish to take such things from humanity, to stifle the human spirit, to take away the liberties that all humans, by nature, are supposed to always have at their disposition.

Rome was, indeed, an idea. And that idea gave us the republic, it made Rome the power she was back then. When Rome lost her sense of self the republic died and a dictatorship arose to fill that vacuum. America is the furthering of that idea, if we lose this nation to its internal corruption while busily cheering on our favorite political team as the union crumbles around us, we will have only one thing left...

...it was the only thing left after Rome, in all her glory and power, came apart and burned...

... a dark age.
