When I saw this thread's title, I expected page after page of praise for a brilliant speech!

From my perspective here in the UK, everything he said was spot on. OK it was late night early morning and I'd had some beers but I was applauding, cheering and even had a few tears.

I caught just a bit of commentary on CNN afterwords and AC did make a comment about the tone of the memorial being rather spirited at times and most of the panal agreed that it was a result of the fact that Tucson has a deep sense of community, this was a college campus, and the families were all part of the cheering, standing at times. It was just a mixed bag of emotion for sure. I'll say it again, I'm going with what I saw in the families and friends responses. They were obviously happy about the whole gathering so who are we to complain? Seriously people, you all look pretty pathetic with your complaints.

Oh, and anyone who actually watched the memorial or who can check online photos, there were NO TELEPROMPTERS for him.

He carried a binder with his notes and looked downwards at times to check his place in the speech.
