If we're the imagination of ourselves...

A Bill Hicks quote: "We are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves."

If this is true, and this earthly reality is an illusion, or a dream, why can't the ones who are aware of this idea wake up? Is death the wake up?

If we are multi dimensional beings with almost infinite power, and our consciousness has the power to manipulate matter, then why wasn't my office building a pile of jello when I arrived tonight? I focused really hard the whole drive here, but no luck.
