Re: Does anyone feel like a lot of things just don't matter any more?
I'm 63, a little overweight, but I eat what I wanna, in a nice balance. Lots of peppers, garlic, onions and so on to keep my blood nice and thin. Drink strong black tea with honey, never nasty coffee. (Yep, I know, my opinion, not true for everyone). Refuse to go into Starbuck's, but love Whole Foods, which started about two miles from my house here in Austin.

I know TOO MANY vegetarians out there who are anemic, dying of cancer and heart disease. They're afraid of wheat, peanuts, kittens, gosh, the list just goes on and on. They're allergic to almost everything! So sorry for them; what they lack is freedom to choose what they really need. Many of them would rather eat merde than meat.

But a lot of things matter: being honest, being nice, being helpful, being healthy, etc. The list goes on. Lots of things still matter, that's my point.

I quit watching the news on tv every night. I don't even miss it. I figure if there's something really important going on, I'll find out about it here a lot sooner and it will be a lot more "accurate." tounge

One thing that I don't care about anymore is my credit rating I have a good one but who cares if I pay my bills on time anymore as long as they get it within the month maybe I am being lazy or just don't give a SH**.Credit does not mean nothing anymore what do you think?
 Quoting: flyingfish

Fish, I can sympathize with your attitude. I often feel like, "Well, if DOOM is just around the corner, why does it matter?". But you know, you have to live with YOURSELF, and if your SELF has always been responsible and paid your bills, to stop doing that (or even to get sloppy about it) is like an insult to yourself. Personal integrity is one of the very few things that the Gov't or whomever cannot TAKE from you - YOU have to give it up willingly.

On the other hand, there are a lot of "external" issues which I used to be passionate about and donate heavily to (political, animals, feed the hungry, women's issues, etc.). This year my income has taken a heavy hit, along with health issues, so I just haven't been able to donate. Although at the beginning I felt a twinge of remorse/guilt as I dumped their pleas for donations into the recycle bin, I gradually came to realize that, regardless of how many free calendars and address labels they send to me, they don't really care about ME as a person, and my little donations most likely make little or no difference to them in the big picture. Now it's very "freeing" to me to be what others might call "broke" because, since I can no longer afford it, I've stopped looking at all the ads and donation requests, just right into the recycle bin with them!

I guess that there are a whole lot of people out there who, like me, are just sort of "waiting for the other shoe to drop". It seems like every day we are hit with more bad news from all sides until it is so overwhelming that we just want to curl up into a ball in a corner. So, we can do that and just wait to die, or we can get up, slap a smile on our faces, and take care of business as best we can.

We are all going to die at some point; the question is, when it happens will we be able to face it knowing that we did the best we could, or will it find us having wasted what time we had, and still curled up in that dark corner?

It's just now trying to wake-up my loved ones in the most gentle way as possible without making them feel hopeless....which is hard with elderly parents and siblings with young kid's. It's hard.

This is exactly the conversation my husband and I had when I got home from work today... he's kind of a negative person anyways, (I am usually the optimist!! LOL), and I decided that he's right.

I can't STOP anything. All I can do is prepare the best I can and hope its enough. Poleshift or no... civil war or no... doesn't matter. In the end all that matters is family, quality 'time' spent with family -- and the peace of mind I get from 'prepping'.

The only way I keep my sanity these days is to mentally practise detachment.

It is difficult, however, because our conditioning has told us to 'care' about 'everything'.

All this caring and gnashing of teeth has proven fruitless and frustrating.

Practise detachment. It's proving to be quite refreshing.

I found a project about ten years ago that is making the world a better and healthier place. I make less money now than I used to and work more, but that doesn't matter because I have a reason to get up in the morning and something meaningful to do with my day.

its a surreal feeling right now. i go through the motions of my daily life but can't wait until the change comes. people are so hollow right now. its nice to find real people, that i really enjoy. my wife and my family don't hold a great connection to me right now. i hope in the future we will be connected. hardship can do that.

Well, sure, I was pondering this myself today, wondering why do we make such a big deal about recycling, when the whole fucking planet is already contaminated to the max and going for more, hey I might even get fined if I recycle wrong...seriously? What about these freaking nuke people they should be HUNG

be happy - could all be gone in an instant so enjoy what you have and you cant take care of everything

that's why its such a sham to hear the U S trying to police the world,, AS IF!

they should just drop joints instead of bombs and mortar, then everyone would get high, drop their guns
be too stoned to fight, laugh and be looking for lunch trucks

END OF WAR! that's how ya do it!!

lmao

The recyclables end up in the same dump as the trash.

I used to work for the Public Works Department in NJ. At the dump yard there were bins where the different colored glass bottles and plastic were sorted out to show to the general public if anyone came to visit. The truck that collected the recyclables, however, dumped it all with rest of the trash. There isn't nearly enough demand for it.

I had the same experience working for Great America. Every year theres a promotion where you get a discount if you bring in a coke can. The park would collects tens of thousands of cans. It took over four months to find someone that was willing to take the cans and only if we delivered them directly to their facility.

Re: Does anyone feel like a lot of things just don't matter any more?
I have found a tremendous sense of peace through all this. I've been a doomer for years. I've dutifully assembled my preps, learned valuable post apocalyptic skills, researched the best places to live and formulated my plan.

I no longer care. I still have a small amount of money in the stock market because I'm too lazy to pull it out. I can see no purpose in having a few more pounds of sugar or a bunch more seeds.

I have arrived at a place where whatever is going to happen, will happen and whatever I do will have no impact on the outcome. So I go through the motions of working, paying my bills, etc., but I know that none of it matters.

Perhaps it is because I did not prep for radioactive doom. I'm not sure I want to survive a nuclear winter.

Now that doom has arrived, I'm sort of "meh" about it.

Ice cream has come up a number of times in this thread.

Made some today.

Will make a different flavor tomorrow.

A couple days from there I will make yet another, different flavor.

Yeah. I haven't taken all the meds/pills the last few days either.

I even decided not to mow the lawn and weed-eat today. Probably won't tomorrow.
It's supposed to rain for a couple of days after that.

The yard (big one) isn't going anywhere.

More ice cream.

Yeah. I don't give a f__k about a lot of things I used to.

Don't need or want anymore, "stuff."

A few extra pounds for enjoying what I eat for a change?
Why not.

Yeah. Let's get this Doom Show on the road.
Or whatever show it is that is taking place.
Let's just Get It Done.

I just can't get involved or care about any of the superficial crap we're all supposed to care about.

I'd go have some ice cream but I'm well full for now.

Don't really care much about the internet anymore either.

Think I'll go to sleep now, prime for some lucid dreaming, astral/etheric R&R.
