I hold my middle leg up when i drink something warm,but sometimes the pinky comes a long too :)

My ma taught me to put it under the glass when I drank. Don't ever recall dropping a glass as a kid. Taught my kid the same thing. He'll knock a glass over at the dinner table in a heartbeat, but never dropped one. (works for beer bottles too.) Try it with your little ones!
