The entire topic of "money" together with the adjunct "value" are evidences of a religious like belief structure. I have been using the word-term "memeplex" but trance-state religion is equally applicable. |

But a bunch of corrupt congressman colluded with 7 of the worlds largest banks in 1913 and handed over the right to coin our own money to these bloodsucking banks. Since that time, whenever the U.S. Treasury needs to create money, they need to borrow it from the Federal Reserve, who now has the right to create their own money. The Federal Reserve is a PRIVATELY owned institution, they create the money and loan it to the U.S. government. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1229723Since that time, the U.S. government has had to pay trillions of dollars of interest on money that it could have created for itself. This is exactly where the staggering 14 trillion dollar debt has come from. Every high position in the U.S. Treasury is held by an interloper from Goldman Sachs or one of the other giant banks. NO ONE, no Democrat, Republican, or Independent can ever be President without agreeing beforehand to keep these parasites in the U.S. Treasury. When just about every person in this country is all wrapped up in the liberal/conservative bullshit, the middle class and poor are being economically fucked into oblivion. What will it take to wake people up to this incredible cluster-fuck??? +1,000,000 and couldn't say it any better than this. "Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy." Quoting: WOMAN WHO RUNS W/ WOLVES[link to www.banknd.nd.gov] About BND Deposit Base In contrast to most commercial banks, Bank of North Dakota (BND) is not a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). North Dakota Century Code 6-09-10 provides that all BND deposits are guaranteed by the full faith and credit of the State of North Dakota. The deposit base of BND is unique. Its primary deposit base is the State of North Dakota. All state funds and funds of state institutions are deposited with Bank of North Dakota, as required by law. Other deposits are accepted from any source, private citizens to the U.S. government. Policy and Governance The state Industrial Commission oversees Bank of North Dakota, as mandated by the 1919 state legislature. Members of the Industrial Commission are the Governor, who acts as chairman, the Attorney General and the Commissioner of Agriculture of the State of North Dakota. The Bank also has a seven-member Advisory Board appointed by the Governor. The members are knowledgeable in banking and finance. The Advisory Board reviews the Bank's operations and makes recommendations to the Industrial Commission relating to the Bank's management, services, policies and procedures. Founded in the 1800's to help out farmer's. I think they are in a little better shape because of it??? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1227257All states should have a state bank. Why should state finances depend on the federal government and for profit banks to keep it's economy floating. Easy thing to do. State has 100 billion dollars. Instead of using it for paying it's obligations you take that 100 billion dollars and charter a bank where you then loan the state 100 billion dollars but now you can also loan out another 900 billion dollars because of fractional reserve banking. You then create a loan to pay off all debts the state owes. Only now instead of profits going to investors it goes to the state. That can be used to fix roads and highways. Build infrastructure and high speed rail. State Bank = State Sovereignty no longer will your states economy depend on Federal One Size fits all monetary policies. No longer will you be making Billionaires richer. You could also use the bank to finance large business loans for factories to move to your state and you can do it at reasonable interest rates because it's not about profit. It's about prosperity for all. OMG!! This is such a SIMPLE, PERFECT plan! Why haven't more states done this??!! Could you PLEASE move to Oregon?! |

Gold tells the truth." Lord Rees Mogg, Former Editor of the Times & Assistant Editor of the Sunday Times. The role of gold or silver in money systems is the role of "performance bond" keeping the communications in truth. Money is a "trusted intermediary" (search term) and if a money system is to be trusted then this performance bond role cannot be ignored. The present "loss of faith" (religious term) is essentially a loss of faith in the intermediary (the fed note) and this is because the people in charge of the monetary communications are allowing lies within the system. Understand this and you have made a large leap toward grasping the necessary elements of a communication theory of money. |

Discussion? Can you trust government? Is somehow a decentralized version better? Local control and all... So, a suggestion; without going outside the dominant model - suppose you are a shaker and mover in your local small city or community. Could you float a bond and purchase a commercial bank that already exists in the area and then run the bank for the benefit of the community? Not a credit union, but a commercial bank empowered to hypothecate the promissory notes of local producers... with annual rebates to membership after the bond issue is paid off? Does that make anyone think? |

They acquired a commercial bank charter and placed the bank in a subordinate position to the overall cooperative management. Thus the bank would be unable to indulge themselves in financing corporate takeovers, sponsorship of tin-horn dictators, derivative ventures, and at the end of the year A REBATE TO THE OWNER OPERATORS OF THE COOPERATIVE. Let us say that the rate of inflation rises from something like 2 percent to something like 6 percent. (By the way, this has happened.) In that case, a capital gain of 6 percent on an asset held for one year would represent no increase in purchasing power. Such a capital gain is merely nominal. It only compensates the holder of the asset for the loss of purchasing power in the dollar caused by inflation. But the taxes that may be due on the illusionary capital gain are very real. All of the article considered... seems like a revisit of the Robert Kahre problems in Los Vegas. Kahre was sentenced to 15 years in prison for using gold coins minted by the US Treasury in payment to his workers. When filling out IRS forms, the workers had used face values the mint printed.
