The connection to the hiding of the light bringer seems to be connected to this.

Starting with the villainy of the snake (garden of eden...eve tempted and gaining knowledge=EVIL...downfall for mankind)

The constellation, Ophiuchus, has been known as Serpentarius, the Serpent Holder which looks kind of like a man handling a snake...or the symbol used today as an Asclepius - the medical staff.

Imhotep is connected thru his knowledge and use of medicine...he was attributed to bringing the art of healing to us. He was also referred to as Asclepius...the 13th constellation is generally the only sign directly attributed to actual human...

Asclepius is thought to be the bearded man wearing a robe that leaves his chest uncovered and holding a staff and snake and he is also thought to be capable of bringing back "the dead"...and my feeling is more than physical death which is being referred to.

Sumerians link this staff and snake to the healing god Ningishita.

It's my feeling that early leadership was trying to hide the actual purpose of Lucifer...which was to bring to the light the hidden knowledge of god...which was meant for all mankind to KNOW.

It was man that created the evil version of satan/lucifer for the direct purpose of creating fear as a means of control for the masses...putting a higher meaning on physical reality which completely shut out a whole OTHER world to our existence. Hence the veil...the grand forgotten.

In a book, The Secret Teachings of All Ages, it describes how the serpent is a symbol of the savior...who gives the world and all of creation the knowledge of itself...and the realization of good and evil.

I know this post is a little scattered...but it's interesting to see all kinds of these old myths and stories, legends, and even historical bible references point to the coming of one thing.

Mankind's appropriation of knowledge...being the catalyst for it's real awakening...our universal self aware of itself...and aware of our own role as creator...our true nature...at one WITH god.
