Thanks for all the time AND effort to present this information, OP !

Been to Chichen Itz'a in the 1970s with my youngest daughter. At the temple of the warriors, there IS a four sided pillar, on which were the CARVED in stone, a Mayan warrior, an Aztec, a Toltec AND a perfect profile of a ROMAN warrior, with helmet, ear flaps, including the brass plates on leather to protect the ears from glancing sword blows. ALSO, there was that UNMISTAKABLE Roman nose !

I had always been an ancient history buff, although I became a science teacher.

Re: Popul Vuh....Mayan or Hebrew Exodus (Red Sea crossing included)?
About the special FXs in The Ten Commandments films:

[link to www.denofgeek.com]

The film was made by Cecil B. Demille. His father, Henry Churchill de Mille, had been a lay reader in the Episcopal Church and a Broadway playwright.

Arnold Friberg, in addition to designing sets and costumes, also contributed the manner in which Moses ordained Joshua to his mission at the end of the film: hands on Joshua's head. Friberg, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Mormons OMG.

To create the effect of the sandstorms, in the narrated desert sequence, as Moses left Egypt and headed to Midian, Cecil B. DeMille used the engine blast from tied-down Egyptian air force planes.

Celluloid art created the special effects of the Red Sea parting by pouring 300,000 gallons of water into a 32-foot high dam or water tank and then playing the film backward. The illusion of the Red Sea parting was achieved by large "dump tanks" that were flooded, then the film was shown in reverse. The two frothing walls of water were created by water dumped constantly into "catch basin areas" then the foaming, churning water was visually manipulated and used sideways for the walls of water. A gelatin substance was added to the water in the tanks to give it more of a sea water consistency. The water is actually rushing in from both sides. Then it was reversed back in slow motion. This is done in small scale.

The people walking through part was done in front of a blue screen, then the water superimposed later. Miniatures were also used. John P. Fulton multiplied the crowds of extras in the Exodus scenes with careful compositing, depicted the massive constructions of Rameses with models.

Special Effects Property Master William Sapp created the effects that turned the waters of the Nile red. Red dye was pumped into the water through a hose at the point where Aaron touched the river, with his staff. Sapp also created the vessel that was used by Rameses' priest in an attempt to restore the waters. The vessel had two chambers: one that was filled with clear water and which was located near the vessel's opening, while the other chamber was filled with red-dyed water was located near the bottom of the vessel. As the vessel was tipped to empty its contents, the clear water poured out first, and as the vessel was tipped further, this released the red-dyed water into the "river" on the sound stage. There were six of these vessels that were made for the film, but only two were used during production. The reverse shot showing the red water extending out into the sea was created through animation onto shots of the Red Sea that had been photographed in Egypt.

Another plague was filmed but was not used. This was the plague of frogs leaving the muddied Nile, coming up onto land, frightening and chasing Nefretiri and other Egyptians through their chambers of the palace. Cecil B. DeMille felt that the scene was not frightening enough, and could even be considered too humorous.

Animation was employed to create the hail as it was falling from the sky in the background, but popcorn that had been spray-painted white fell as "hail" onto the pavilion of Rameses' palace. It was light so it could not hurt the actors, it bounced like real hail; and it could be swept up and used again for additional takes of the scene. The fire that burned from the hail was created by animation.

At least 14,000 extras and 15,000 animals were used in the film.

Several shots that appear throughout the movie are shots that were matted together from scenes shots on location in Egypt and scenes shots at the Paramount Studios in Hollywood. Most notable scenes featuring this multi-location matte-shooting are the scenes which Moses and Sethi watch the Obelisk being raised; the slaves in the background were shot in Egypt, the foreground with Moses and Sethi shot in Hollywood, and the background pylons being matte paintings.

The cloud special effects used during the parting of the Red Sea scenes, would later be repeatedly used in various movies by director Steven Spielberg. The appearance of the dense "clouds" in the sky was accomplished by producing brit smoke which was then optically tinted and darkened, and superimposed into the appropriate shots.

The pillar of fire, which kept the Egyptians from getting closer to the Israelites just before they crossed the Red Sea, was not achieved through the use of actual flames, but was instead, an animated "cartoon fire".

At the end of the movie, after Charlton Heston as Moses has turned over leadership of the Israelites to Joshua, he watches as the Israelites march into Caanan. At this point, Moses was supposed to have been enveloped in the fog coming down from the mountain, but the effect was never completed. As a result, Moses is shown to be standing there watching the Israelites go, and this is closer to what is related in the actual Bible than what Cecil B. DeMille originally intended.

In DeMille’s 1923 silent version the effect of the parting of the Red Sea was created by placing two blocks of blue gelatin side-by-side, heating them until they melted...then running the footage in reverse. The enormous sets of ancient Egypt have become a Hollywood legend in themselves. The "City of the Pharaohs" was constructed of wood and plaster in the Guadalupe Dunes, an 18-mile stretch of coastal sand 170 miles north of L.A.

The sets featured four 35-foot-tall statues of the Pharaoh Ramses, 21 five-ton sphinxes, and city walls over 120 feet high. An army of 2,500 actors, extras, carpenters, plasterers, painters, cooks, staff, and film crew members inhabited the set for three months, housed in a virtual army camp that featured nearly 1,000 tents. (3,500 animals, used in recreating the scenes of ancient Egypt, were housed in a huge corral downwind of the camp.) When shooting wrapped, Cecil B. DeMille simply had the massive Egyptian city sets bulldozed, and buried in a huge pit beneath the sand, where they remain to this day. For years, the legendary "Lost City of DeMille" was spoken of by locals in Guadalupe who had worked on the film set.

Artifacts from the Egyptian sets were found in the dunes, and can sometimes be found in local houses in the area. In 1983, documentary filmmaker Peter Brosnan located the remains of the DeMille sets, still buried beneath the dunes. The site is now recognized as an official archaeological site by the state of California, and it is against the law to remove artifacts from the site. Brosnan has been trying for many years to raise money from the Hollywood studios to excavate the site, but so far has been unable to do so. Most of the chariot crashes in the prologue were real and unplanned. During one day of the filming of the Exodus scenes, about sixty bit players were injured in chariot crashes. Most went right back to work after getting bandaged up.

I don't think Ron Wyatt was lying. They dared to cross Saudi Arabia after their visa was rejected during 4 years, they did via Jordan desert. The very fact Jebel El Lawaz Sinai mountain became restricted forbidden area by royal decree, the black peak of the mountain, the proximity with the Red Sea, the carving of Egyptian sacred cow in the stones, the Phoenician inscription in a column that was removed after Ron discovered it.... the split rock from which water poured, the wells and oasis in the wilderness of Sin, the underground waterbridge at Nuwebia....

See also other parts, for example the geographical details in part 6.

The RED sea as explained here was not a case of reed sea or swamp or those wrong explanations about Hebrew word "yam suph", even in the New Testament it was written RED in Greek language 2000 years ago. That is also the Mayan record.

The Mayan account indicates THAT THERE WERE 4 TULÁNS;

"From 4 places the people came to Tulán. In the east is one Tulán; another in Xibalbay; and another where god is. Therefore, there were 4 Tuláns, Oh our sons! So they said. "From the west we came to Tulán, from across the sea.. so they told us".The Annals of the Cakchiquel (page 45).

I find your work interesting. I hope what I have to add might be of some help.

There was a mix of cultures during the 500-700's in areas like Palenque which was overgrown when this particular group moved there. They consisted of a couple, one being a prince of either India or of Asia, who was probably et or part et because he flew a viman - and his wife who was darker, and either an African princess of part et descent with a cultural background similar to Indonesia.
When they arrived in the region, two places they tried to settle were over run with hostile tribes, one being Tikal.
Not long after, Mixcoatl landed and freaked the tribes right out of there. Tikal was his, a gift from his father, an et who built the place, along with many of the first pyramidal settlements.

The family moved on to Palenque, where they became the ruling family, and had the daughter who married both Pacal, and later Mixcoatl.
The marriage to Mixcoatl produced the son, Queztlcoatl.

The meaning of two rules is that at times, there were et's who co-ruled. Sometimes it was a shared rule with a wise tribal leader. In the times of the renovations of Tikal, as well as Mirador, Palenque, renovations at Machu Pichu, the building of Pisaq, and expansions at Tortuguera, Mixcoatl(an et, Nord looking) and Mayahuel (Lady Twelve Macaw ), were king and queen of Tikal and together oversaw the entire region, and many building projects. The building projects were done with et oversight, et tech, and well trained and educated flight techs and stone masons.

Mixcoatl used the nine step pyramid at Tikal for space observations and communications, using high tech equipment. He and his wif both eflew those little gold space car replicas that have been found, and their son Queztlcoatl became what we'd call a top gun flight jockey whose prime interest was in studying the tectonics of the planet.
At that time, a central government headquarters for much of the vast regions was Teotihuacan. Mostly et's and et/humans working administration and government. It was a smaller version of the Pentagon. They were near going high tech defense weapons and space base when the et's pulled out.
Mixcoatl spent many of the last years on the planet before he rode his space car out of here trying to find a way to use their tech and the tech we would have at this time to prevent earth cataclysms during the 2012 passage through the galactic plane and after - to save our civilization.

In her later years, Lady Twelve Macaw had a hand in updating the PopoVu. She stopped blood sacrifice in the civilized communities, and turned the ball games into sporting matches for kids. She also advocated for education, and fair government.

This is wrong. Machu Pichu and Pisaq are in Peru, South America and not in Mexico or Guatemala which belong to Central America. This is off course what O.P. researched.

The red sea crossing

THAT was never the case, but a bad misunderstanding of what was written. The Hebrews crossed the REED Sea.

Everything else you posted is AS BAD or worse, misunderstandings and sheer stupidity!

AND, in some cases, outright LIES!!!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1085245

If you care to READ the links you'll see the so-called explanation of REEDS and RED is a mistake that doesn't fit on Hebrew account no matter how interesting sounds in English James King version or others. About 2.000 thousands years ago the name was also written in GREEK and the name was Red Sea indeed. In Greek Acts 7:36 & Hebrews 11:29 refer to the ocean indeed and uses the word erythrá thá.la.sa.
Red indeed for several reasons.

The red sea crossing was indeed from west to east as described in this book and the guy explains the so-called "yam suph" and "sooph" misunderstanding of the name Red Sea because in Hebrew the name was MARA refering to Bitter Lake and not the explanation you probably heard watching the documentary made by James Cameron, Avatar director. Cameron was critized due to his inventions.

Could it be the ark of the covenant was used to split the waters? After all the 'Jordan miracle' withdrawing the waters actually used the ark:
[link to fotolog.terra.com]
The ark was taken out of the temple once a year to charge the waters which were later used in the crops the rest of the year. What was inside the ark? Monoatomic white gold dust with rodium and iridium? Is that the reason Spielberg (who borrows ideas from Rabbies) set a white dust (considered worthless dust by Nazis) inside the ark in his Raiders of the Lost Ark?
