english is one of the most creolic languages today. there have been many studies written trying to deny it, but all are quite unpersuasive.
it is classified as german for obvious political reasons. it could as well be classified as a corrupt slavonic language.
the evidence is the verb formation.
while the slavonic languages have the infinitive ending in -ti, the english put the article in front to-,
for instance: to be = biti
of course, english, as a creole language, has lost most of the conjugations...
