The earliest coherent Germanic text preserved is the 4th century Gothic translation of the New Testament by Ulfilas. Early testimonies of West Germanic are in Old Frankish (5th century), Old High German (scattered words and sentences 6th century, coherent texts 9th century) and Old English (coherent texts 10th century). North Germanic is only attested in scattered runic inscriptions, as Proto-Norse, until it evolves into Old Norse by about 800. [

Tiny Excerpts won't do it. Face it you're not British and you don't speak English and English is not German. Clearly we have some historical evolution that did not derive from your hideous language. Just listen to both, there are clues in that. If there is a grain or input, it's a grain thank God.
English is an Anglo-Frisian language derived from Western Germanic origin. The cultures are in modern times very different.
No, you're missing details. Read up more. Don't forget the Romans don't forget the other areas in Europe. We evolved our own language over a great time. Your point is as valid as giving pre historic man credit for inventing the TV.
yes, the devil is in the details.
english is one of the most creolic languages today. there have been many studies written trying to deny it, but all are quite unpersuasive.
it is classified as german for obvious political reasons. it could as well be classified as a corrupt slavonic language.
the evidence is the verb formation.
while the slavonic languages have the infinitive ending in -ti, the english put the article in front to-,
for instance: to be = biti
of course, english, as a creole language, has lost most of the conjugations...
another thing the british can be proud of...or better put can feel important because of it, is the project of an (anglosaxon) new world order
