Ophiuchus only looks like it has territory on the ecliptic plane because the international Astronomer's union drew those lines in 1930. The lines don't represent the zodiac in any way, they were draw specifically as an exercise to make their work more efficient while charting stars and deep space objects.

This geometric pattern is an artificial structure, and has zero basis in reference to Astrology.

80 years later, the entire world believes that the ancients drew those lines, and because the associated constellation which sits much farther north than the ecliptic plane MUST be a 13th sign!

I can see your point though, this completely destabilizes an incredibly powerful ancient science. Astrologers admit that only 1% of them practice a form of Astrology that even resembles the original art, but this number has been growing, and it was in the process of rediscovery.

This is not to mention that regular people who consult Astrology are robbed of personal stability, and probably one of the only readily available tools for reaching some level of self-knowledge.

Ophiuchus is not on the ecliptic plane which dictates the signs of the Zodiac according to the ancients. The lower part that looks like it does was DRAWN IN by Astronomers in 1930.

Sure, it existed as a constellation since the olden days just like the rest of them -- but it was NOT a sign of the Zodiac that you could be 'born under'.
