Should I be concerned about this? Very strong scent coming from the power plant across the street
I live across the street from a coal plant. 1 or 2 nights a month an overwhelming scent of burning rubber fills the air. I've done a little research and found out they also burn old tires along with the coal and this is apparently common at many coal power plants. GLP is a plethora of knowledge at times, so I figure this would be the best place to ask. Is there anything I should be concerned about?

I'll be back to check responses in the morning hf

Ummm.. Yeah..

What do you think you're smelling? The sense of smell doesn't come from some benign source. If you smell it, you're inhaling the exhaust from the plant. Chances are living there, if you can smell it, those who aren't used to it would be knocked down by how strong it actually is.

Well I figured that, but I'm more concerned about what the harmful chemicals (if any) are in the fumes. I found an article from last summer back when the mound of coal at the plant actually caught fire. I remember when this happened you could see it for miles:

Other articles I came across mentioned benzine ahhh

If you had to put (if any) in braces, then I can tell you, no need to worry. It's already too late.

lol well no shit any fumes are harmful. I'm talking about toxic fumes that would make me ill a few years down the road. I just want to educate myself about this before I go and bring this before city hall, if that's what I decide to do.
